SWG Cheats: Avoiding Rubber Banding : Star Wars Galaxies Nerfed Info

Okay, so it's not a cheat or exploit as such, but it *could* be useful, I don't know if it's been posted elsewhere.

I've only tested this in Etyyy on Kashyyyk as well, so don't know if it will work elsewhere.

I recently noticed that I was being warped back to previous co-ordinates randomly in Etyyy. This was annoying. By chance I came across a way of stopping this rubber banding.

Having the Map screen open (default key 'V') stopped this, so when travelling in Etyyy, I just keep my map screen open, drag it down to the corner of the screen so that it's not too intrusive, and no more rubber banding.

Haven't had a chance to confirm if this works in other areas at periods of high load though.

I tried to confirm tonight.

I'm gonna give it a vote for "Yay"
but I'm not 100% sure

The problem is that sometimes rubber banding is sporatic.

Most of the time when I am on a vehicle and run it in to a building (the entrance) I get RB'd back about 100-150m. Tonight, it happened, and I opened up the planet map, and then pressed "ALT" to keep it in the background. When it was hidden, I indeed did not RB, but this may have been a result of the server/client catching up when I was RB'd, and then attempting to do the same thing again.

This would be very useful if you were Combatant in Theed and needed to get in the Starport quickly for a clean getaway...especially if you are a low level toon and can't really defend much against some of the Elite Imperial Scum in Theed these days.

Might try this with a speed hack like SpeedGear - for me, even at the lowest setting, I've always gotten horrific rubberbanding, might be a good way to stress test it. I'd try it, but I'm away from my SWG-capable comp for a few days.

Tried this on kash in the etyy hunting grounds, and didn't work for me. Had map up, on a mount, and continued to rubberband. This may only work for specific cases of rubberbanding, I don't know. Gotta say nay.

(and to the poster who asked about it working for speed hacks, I also had no luck with preventing the rubber-banding there, either.)
