First of all you have to be at least 20lvl to get this work. +24lvl is suggested because of

Fear & Clinging Darkness(http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/ability.ht ... ility=1880) but this

works very well at any lvl.

What do you need?

mage pet
root
clinging darkness or other from that spell line(not necessary)
Fear
Grasp or other spell from that spell line

Why mage pet?

Unlimited power!!
Do you really need anything else?

You don't need full fabled to get this work. This works even naked!!

How this works?

Start fight with root. I suggest you to use maxi um casting range so if it gets resisted you

have time to cast fear and then repeat rooting. Send pet and cast clinging darkness. keep

clinging darkness and root up all the time. if root breaks and your fear is down use stun

and root mob and back off again. Hardest part in this is controlling your pet. When you send

your pet it will start with spell and then moving closer to target and finally try melee it.

You have to control your pet with pet back off and pet attack. When you see your pet is

going towards your target just simply hit pet back off and then pet attack to keep him

nuking from range.

What NOT to do?

Waste power for useless spells
&
USE DOTS WHILE DOING THIS!!!

Why?

1. When mob is rooted. It gets chance for breaking root every time its damaged! Keep that

chance low by letting your pet only damage it!

3. Dots will break your root so often that you will only find your self selecting revive locations.

Well... sort of a guide for any pet class right?

Otherwise known as root and nuke. Or nuke and pet nuke :)

My illy uses this same method to solo.

More of a guide, than sploit.. and umm... isnt this how pet classes are suppose to solo? Sorry. but Nay

Nay for a couple of reasons:

1. Not written well to be a viable guide. As a Necro using this tactic - you will run out of power as your root spells consume a huge amount of power - at any level.

2. Clinging Darkness is a DoT as well. Any tick from that DoT has a chance of breaking the root.

A simple guide for Necros would be:

1. Hotkey your pet attack and pet back off buttons. Ensure your pet is not set to Protect you or itself.
2. Target mob and start with Root. If root is resisted, follow-up with a Stun. If both are resisted, then run and /yell and reset.
3. If everything clings, then, using the Mage Pet, press your pet attack button. Once your pet is in the proccess of firing off it's first spell, press your pet back off button and cast Root again (you can create a macro button to make the clicks faster).
4. Your pet will eventually have to let it's spells refresh. If you press your pet attack button and notice your pet running towards the mob, then call the pet off and cast root again.
5. Use your lifetap over and over again as that is considered a DD, and reduces the chances that root will break.
6. Make sure you hit your pet with the spell that consumes the pet's health and transfers that into your power pool.
7. Keep power potions on you for close fights.

- that's how I would've written in.

Nay, this is simple logic and the original post is flawed as described above.
