OK, so here's my shot at free membership...
There are 2 things one must have to get colored chocobo.
#1 VERY high affection
#2 At least one stat a bit deficient or higher
If you get these before the chocobo is an adolescent you have about a 50/50 chance of color. Now here's how to make that 50% into 100%
First off, I'm going to abolish an annoying myth about chocobo color.
COLOR IS NOT INHERITED!!!!!
Can't stress this enough ppl....
Color is determined by the stats a chocobo has before it hits the adolescent stage. The only reason a green chocobo is likely to have a green baby, is that the baby will be born with similiar stats to the parent, which made the parent green in the first place.
Ok, now that that is out of the way. ahem...
The higher the chocobos affection towards you, the higher chance of color. So one MUST have the chick regard them as its parent for 100% color. this will boost the 50% to about 70-75%
Next, once the chick has capped affection, which can be asily accomplished by checking the egg 100+ times before it hatches, occasionally you will get a message saying, "Your chocobo is perky today" or, "the chick seems in high spirits"
This is good.
On these days you need to feed the chick one of the three worms, Parasite, cupid, or gregarious. Feeding all 3 of these at the right times is what will give you 100% color.
NOTE: do not feed all 3 at once, otherwise only the first will count. You must feed it one, then wait for it to be perky again, feed it second, and so on.
Each worm raises chance of color.
Time for a recap for 100% color.
#1 check egg 100+ times so chick is born with capped affection
#2 mantain the capped affection trhoughout
#3 get a stat a bit deficient or higher
#4 feed the chick all 3 worms on proper days.
If all these are done, the chick will become colored on its adolescent day.
Now then, what color is determined by what stat you ask?
Good question!
It seems that strength causes red, endurance green, and discernment blue. Receptivity does nothing ; ;.
And black? Well black just seems to happen randomly, still investigating as to what causes black chocos...
So hopefully this guide helps you get a colored chocobo.
One last thing...
One cannot change the color of the chocobo past adolescent stage. it's permenant. Well, there's using chocobo dye, but that isn't permenant, and kinda fake. But go ahead if you want, lol.
Good luck fellow chocobo raisers, and have fun ^^
