Connecting... : FFXI Submissions

Ok first off, please don't ban me I'm not exactly sure where i would ask this. I've looked in a couple of places but im just confused. I want to start a FFXI account and I don't know how I would connect to your server. And is it a free server or just a private server?!? There are so many links that send me places I don't know what to do with...
I know its a noob question but yeah ... Can someone help ?

Don't post in multiple areas, and this is absolutely NOT a submission. Pick 1 and hope a mod notices and moves it if it's wrong.

there was a few that some people started some years ago but there long dead now

private servers are still in the making. and have been for years. seems like they will never come out

It's because they're not going to be able to crack the encryption. They might as well try and make their own game...
