*REGISTERED USER* - Issues with cost versus new features |
|
I love the bot. I use it for crafting and harvesting because I've just never really had much luck with the hunting portion. That said, I only use about 1/2 of the actual bot. Most of its features I've stumbled through figuring out how to use. The help documentation hasn't really been updated in a long while and the updates consisted of lines through certain instructions indicating that those steps didn't have to be performed anymore. Don't get me wrong, the bot has come a long way.
That said, I sat here wanting to watch a movie on my PC and use the bot to harvest at the same time. That's not possible unless you're using a virtual machine or have the bot on another PC. It makes the bot cumbersome and impractical at times. The cost to buy a 2nd copy of the bot for my virtual machine is $25. When I think about it, I can't justify spending $50 on a bot that I got on a website that I pay a monthly subscription to in order to play on a copy of a game that is also $15 a month. The last 6 changes done to the bot were all fixes, just to keep it running. There hasn't been anything MAJOR added to the bot IMO since Sept 1st, 2008. That was the Goblin Gambling. That's 10 months ago.
I scanned the forum and I've seen several suggestions that you've said you'd look into, but no other mention of them after. A couple on the top of my head are the waypoint save/load feature, instead of having to manually copy/paste them into your waypoint.ini file. Another good suggestion was some sort of statistics for harvests that show total harvests, total rares, and maybe a breakdown of each item your harvest and how many. I understand that this isn't your full time job and you may not have the time to invest in adding most of these features, but I've already invested $25 into funding the program. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one either. I also noticed that you're looking for help changing the code base to vb.net and get some help with memory hooks. Well, I commend you!
But don't charge your customer ANOTHER $25 when we've already purchased it once and just need it for a virtual machine, or our laptop or something. Especially if we're continuing to support the website the promotes your bot by paying a monthly fee. Maybe make it so that we have to keep our subscription to tault to use it, but charge a one time $25 activation fee and we can use it on 3-4 machines or something. I would be content with that.

Hi,
I dont know why you cant get the hunting part working, let me know what is wrong and we will try to make it work.
For the update part, yes I know, I didnt add much lately, but remember this bot is over 3 years old and there is a limit on what I can add.
Also, before there was someone else that was updating and maintaining the dll that I use to link to the game, now I have to deal with that also. I am the only one here that maintain the eq2 part.
For a second account its not 25$ but 15$, and I am working on a new system to check registration so people can switch bot from one machine to another easy and also support Windows 7 and virtual machine. This is not easy and take time. Like you said this is not my main job and trust me, the money I get from this is very limited, I dont have many customer to support it (less then 100).
If you have suggestion send me a PM or post it in the eq2ultrabot forum, some I will add some I wont.

Hey Slam, thanks for the quick response. I know you said you're working on a way to switch registrations from one computer to another. How long do you figure that would take? While you're working on this, is it still $15 for a second copy? Have you confirmed that the bot works on a virtual machine? I especially don't want to pay $15 to have the bot not work or for you to release a feature that will allow me to switch the bot I've already paid for to the Virtual Machine.
The suggestions I wrote down in my first post were a few that I saw already posted on the boards.
