leaving the uxfish bot unattended : FFXI General Discussions

I am new to the board and am thinking of getting a premium membership to xunleased. I have been using another fisher bot for some time, then i switched to GET bot for fighting reasons. Anyway the GET bot has gotten me killed 2 times now. once while i was in the shower, and another time when i went to eat dinner. the second time i got back i had seen i had a bunch of tells from other peps saying not to get killed while fishing and that it draws attention, and possibly GM's. Anyway how reliable is the UX fish bot for fighting mobs. Can I trust it not to get me killed. I am a 46 whm, and where i am fishing all the mobs are 1 or maybe 2 hits for me. but they have to hit me many times for 1-3 dmg a hit. I need a bot that i can trust to run without me in the room the whole time.

i just started using this prog oh maybe a week or two ago. i've gotten to 50 fishing by being unattended (sleeping, while @ school) and i have not yet ONCE had a problem. this prog is so very reliable.

once you get fishing up to lvl 60-70+ how much money can you expect to make overnight?

I would not recommend you leave any bot running Unattended. If you do though XUFish is one of the greatest fishing scripts I have ever seen. It will keep you alive if you go in a mod the fight section for your whm, but since you are in an area that you can kill most stuff in one or two hits you should be ok with the basic fighting section.

artimis72: you failed to mension your job/level, but I was able to kill sea bishop at lvl 50 BLM in Qufim Island while afk after installing XUfish. Out-of-the-box, XUfish will attack the mob and hit it with whatever weapon you have equipped, but as a mage, I don't do much damage, so I put some spells in the job-specific section of the script, which took me all of five minutes to understand given that they, wyvernx and asl18fs, or whoever put handy comment tags that tell you what to do in the code.

Well I would say my biggest worry wouldn't be a mob killing you but a GM banning you. Just be careful of Bot hunters that are out there because they are the real thing to worry about. Trust me I got /poke'ed to a banned account . If you are going to unattend know that there are people out there that get their jollies out of hunting bots.

i dont see how that's possible i'v reported so many people afk fishing and i see them weeks later in the same spot ...the GM's are pathetic

the GMs are so pathetic in fact that a friend of mine's LS spawned a boss mob to fight. Well, a japanese LS comes along and says 'its ours'. Even though they didnt spawn it. What does the GM do? Gives the mob to the Japanese.

Not sure what the above post has to do with fishing unattended, but I can vouch for the fact that a: there are @ssholes everywhere (see: Loser) that have nothing better to do than hunt bots and try to get them banned, and b: GM's will suspend/ban you for AFK fishing based solely on someones complaint.

I wouldn't recommend AFK fishing unless you are completely prepared to lose that account. I have been banned for AFK fishing (a fellow AFK bot reported me oddly enough???) so I know it happens.

It just means that GMs can make arbitrary decisoins and really dont care about what is 'right' or 'wrong'.

and someone here pasted a chat with a GM, apparently 70pct of bots reported are in fact not unattended. Its a huge hassle for the GMs so they tend to ignore a lot of the bot reports. in fact I was told (I quit the game for a while) that SE even released a statement on bot-reporting, saying to email them, vs. hasslling GMs in game b/c it just creates more problems than not.

I agree that essentially a GM has the choice to suspend or not suspend, but there is hardly any proof of many GM's letting anyone off the hook. I have heard a lot of talk about "my friend said" or "a guy in my linkshell told me" but nary a "a GM found out I was fishing AFK but told me he didn't care because it's just to much work to suspend me". Speculatory statements about unattended botting can be very damaging to someone with little experience in the matter...you may encourage a person into a situation that could cost them a very loved character.

Its not speculatory. Somoene here actually had a screenshot of a GM saying as much

I am pretty paranoid about botting myself (and was once fiercely anti-bot), but I am just saying that the bothunters who go around reporting everyone as a 'botter' just create more work for the GMs who really *dont* put a dent in botting, who *dont* care and only do so b/c they have to, and even then they are not shutting down actual botters/cheaters but people who are at the pc.

If SE really gave a !@#$%^&* about botting, they would shut down the Japanese botters too, and take some real steps to put an end to botting other than nerfing fishing and mining and everything else, which just ruins it for everyone.

And you misinterpreted. I meant its too much work for the GMs to spend all day chasing down people who ARE NOT botting b/c overzealous bot hunters report every motherfing fisher on their server

Doesn't mean one should not be careful, it just means that most bothunters are shitheads whos actions result in no real improvements.

Once you have XUFish fully configured (yes, read the documentation) it is by FAR the best bot out there.
