Stats’ wise(novice build)

First choice
Str 1+xx
Agi 9+xx
Vit 9+xx
Int 9+xx
Dex 1+xx
Lck 1+xx
Reason: This is a good start for int/agi/vit or int/vit/agi. For starting, you will miss a lot but you take less damage from easy monsters like porings, fabres, even chonchons and willows.

Second choice
Str 1+xx
Agi 9+xx
Vit 1+xx
Int 9+xx
Dex 9+xx
Lck 1+xx
Reason: This is a good start for int/agi/dex or int/dex/agi. For starting, you will have to sit a lot or consume a little bit more carrots than the vit build. But it’ll be worthy later on. So bear with it for a while.

Third choice
Str 1+xx
Agi 1+xx
Vit 9+xx
Int 9+xx
Dex 1+xx
Lck 9+xx
Reason: This is good for int/dex/vit build. For vit as a starting point, you will get less damage. Luck? It’s for perfect dodge purpose. Any non-agi build should get luck rather than agi as a starting point. 2 % Perfect dodge(luck 9 + job bonus later on) >> 9 flee.

Fourth choice
Str 1+xx
Agi 1+xx
Vit 1+xx
Int 9+xx
Dex 9+xx
Lck 9+xx
Reason: This is good for pure int/dex wizard. Luck = perfect dodge.

As a novice, you can skip to real world but I suggest you to go through this novice guide if this is your first character. Answer right the whole thing and you will end up in the training ground. When you are in the training ground, try to level up till base level 4 or 5 by killing fabres inside. They are pretty much easier compare to the savage map’s fabres. After finishing all step-by-step novice’s guide, you will be warped to Geffen. Make sure to pick mage as your choice. With that equipment, please don’t jump into next stage such as chonchon or stronger monsters without a proper weapon. Okay this is the dark age of mages. Don’t feel desperate to be killed by a cute poring. They are strong compare to us at the moment >.<. Just keep on hunting porings, fabres, pupas till you are strong enough to move on willow or chonchon.. Some novice with 9 vit can jump into chonchon as long as they have enough healing items. When you reach job level 9. Go to mage guild and change job there. You’ll need milk, clover, jellopy plus morroc/payon solution depend on the solution. Get those things and congrats you are a mage now. The sad thing is, we can’t use strong weapon like stiletto until we reach base level 12. Well let’s assume when we change job to mage at base 12, then we can use it. Either using knife or stiletto, kill more porings, fabres, chonchons till you have 4-5 job points (go till base 19 with normal attack + magic attack). And then buy rod/staff/wand depends on your budget. Before you invest your job points into anything, please do check this link

http://ro.nitro7.com/html/ro/monster.search.htm.php

and find out what monsters are you going to hunt in the future. For example, judging from the monsters’ aggressiveness and my current level, I will not try to fight something that I can’t take care efficiently. Of course you can snipe and party to level up. Okay say you want to be an ice mage. Then you need to find proper monsters to level up first. Example elder willow, greatest general are weak to water property. So your first investment will be cold bolt. Add till colt bolt 5 and stop right there. The reason is as a mage, you need lots of points to be a strong mage/wizard, so you will need to put it wisely. Then you can start adding to other spells accordingly. It’s the same thing with fire, lightning, and spiritual mage. Do research (check the monster skill too) and put the point wisely. One thing is important! Max your intelligent first before you switch to other stats.
This is my suggestion for a mage who go from

19-30+

Fire mage

Invest into fire bolt (level 4-10, but stay no more than 4-5 at the moment), add sp regen accordingly, then go hode map(hide and seek or hide and run style), ant hell(make sure you can kill it in one hit, if not come back later)

Ice mage

Invest into cold bolt (level 5 max). Start hunting elder willow, or greatest general. I heard that greatest general can cast Earth spike. Try to run out of range(please confirm this) to avoid it.

Lightning mage

Invest into lightning bolt (level 4 max). Go to byalan/bibalan(they change this name couple times) and start leveling by killing marine etc. Note: Don’t get more than level 4 lightning bolt. If you don’t want LoV and MS, stay at level 1. I suggest you to get Jupiter thunder if you love lightning spell so much. Having more than level 4 lightning is not bad, but it is not really a skill point wise.

Spiritual mage

Invest into soul strike. Graveyard, or any savage map will do it. Just find a slow moving monster and kill it with “run and hit” tactic.

After 30+(till job 50)

You will have quite a few varieties of spells.
You can stick at your current places or go further. Go to argiope map and snipe there (FW is also possible). Or go to CT 2 up to CT 3 if you have firewall. Sting is nice but you have to be good in using fly wing and it’s better for you to have a firewall there. Cramp is deadly for a low hp mage like us. Stick and level up there till you reach job 50. Soul strike (run and hit) will be a good deal as well in argiope map, graveyard, prison etc. FD-LB4(for MS and LoV user) can also be done in Argiope map and more like sohee(payon4), sting(it's unlikely but we can frost-lightning sting ^^)

Don't go to places like chivalry(GH), castle 1,2 (GH) etc until you are a wizard because of low HP. When you are a wizard, you can almost go anywhere depends on your stat/skill's builds and interests.

After turning into wizard.(base lvl 67-70)

Congrats. You can stay to kill alarm, sting, comodo dungeons or go around chivalry/castle 2/turtle dungeon with friends(party) and so on. Or you can go mvping easier Boss later on. Our lives are pretty much monotone so when you find a good place to level up, you'll basically stick there till you are 99.

About the spells that you might need to know.

Firewall:

Very good in defending and offending. It’s really good because you can use this till high level to stop, attack, make combo with other spell like soul strike, bolts, Jupiter thunders etc. One of the ways to maximize this spell is using it vertically.

Frost Diver

Very good in creating huge damage when the monster is frozen. Level 10 has chance of freezing about 65%. Although you fail to freeze a monster, when you have high int you deal like 1k+ per failed frost diver. This spell rocks when you combine with lightning spell. (example: Jupiter thunder)

Soul Strike

Very good in cleaning stupid annoying pests like argos, drainliars and so on. And if you want safety wall, it’s a requirement for that spell anyway.

Safety wall

When it is maxed, you can dodge 11 hits perfectly from any regular attacks. I never have chance to try it but I heard that it can only block any normal physical attack. Arrows (need to confirm this) and magic can penetrate into this kind of defense. But aside from that, I think SW can be used to dodge deadly skills of some monsters or bosses like mammonite, brandish spear etc.

SP regeneration

Will add +3 per 10 seconds while you are standing/sitting. Maximum is 30 sp per 10 sec. The calculation of SP regen will be changed in the future. I will post it once we got the update ^^. My suggestion is, try to build your skill tree first before you invest too much into this skill. It’s useful, especially when you are lack of partying and blessing. But if you need more points for your other spells, you can sacrifice some points from here.

Sight

It’s useful if the monster is hiding. Example: hodes, sting, smokie and so on. In PvP, you can use it to unhide players.

(Change job to wizard)
It's placed inside the mage tower. Just kept going up and you'll find the NPC soon. Make sure to use all your job points before you change your job.
At the moment I won’t add any wizard quest hence we don’t have that in iRO chaos server. I will add this once we have more accurate complete information on it.
At this time, after you have int 99 what matters is the stats’ build. There are tons of varieties that we wizards can start with. I will put some here.
(Most popular builds in my opinion)

Int/Agi/Dex.

Advantages:
*You will as good as a sin with quagmire. Plus with your mocking muffler, you will have additional +20. Say like agi 80(72+8 ) plus a mocking muffler, you will have 199 flee. With quagmire, you can dodge pretty much most monsters in game.
*With high agi to dodge monsters, you can cast spell without any interruption.
*With dex for the rest, you can have less casting time.

Disadvantages:
*Monster skill can’t be dodge with regular flee chart. Even when you are 99, your hp will no more than 3k. And if a monster deal more than 3k magic attack, you are dead.

Int/Dex 99/99.

Advantages:
*God in speed. If you want to have speed attack in MvPing with this build, don’t mind. 15 seconds of long cast AoE has been reduced to 3-4.5 seconds.
*Fast in leveling. With a proper gear or bless, you don’t need to sit down at all. Fast cast= own age.

Disadvantages:
*Worse than agi/dex or vit build in defending. You are bad in dodging, either strong magic or regular hits. Your 3k hp will go down really fast unlike the other build.

Int/Dex/Vit. (I’m this wizard ^~^)

Advantages:
*As what it’s said, extra vitality. It’s good in PvP to avoid fast dying. And for lag spike, you can survive longer than any vit 1 wizard.
*More vit = less duration of stun etc.
*With dex for the rest, you can have less casting time.

Disadvantages:
*You cast slower than pure dex user, yet there is no chance for you to dodge monsters like agi type. So you are basically a punch bag.

I will assume you guys already find a good favorite place to level up. So I will just add something on the spells’ description.

Jupiter Thunder

Is a must spell if you want to be a lightning wizard. Frost diver or Storm gust plus Jupiter thunder will deal 175% to the monsters. Get it around 5 to 10.

Quagmire

Rumor said it will have percentage in the future. Say like
Level 1: -10% agi/dex(5 seconds)
Level 2: -20% agi/dex(10 seconds)
Level 5: -50% agi/dex(25 seconds)
Note that thing is RUMOR and I will change this accordingly to the update later on.
I suggest you to have 2 or more as a dex wizard, and 4-5 as a agi wizard.

Ice Wall

Post-comodo it’s been nerved into 5 seconds per level. We can’t box boss with this anymore, but we can use this to defend ourselves. What I mean is by boxing yourself when there is no possibility to take care the mob. I suggest you to have around 5 or up.

Meteor Storm

It has the longest cast in AoE category. Despite it’s level, you have to bare with 15 second per casting. It also has chance to miss when you use it. The good part is when it hit a monster perfectly, it deal the most damage(7*5*Matk) among all AoE (in proper places). It’s better to max it if you want this spell.

Storm Gust

Good MvPing skill. One thing I like it because of the bouncing back. If you put it properly, the monster won’t bounce any closer to you. I have used it to mvp moonie(moonlight) so far and it works like a charm. Bad thing about this spell is, when you use it, sometimes monster bounce around you and bite you to death. Level 1, level 5 or max it. (I recommend you to max it if you like this spell)

Lord of Vermilion

Biggest area spell ever. Combination with SG is a good thing to start with. For now, level 10 has only 10 seconds cast (with dex 1) so it’s a very good deal to use with. I saw my pal using it in anolian map. LoV level 10 vs. ten anolians, wizard win!! (the anolians were targeting vit knight by the way ;p)
The bad thing is, compare with Mstorm and Sgust, it’s weaker. It’s better to max it if you want this spell. You can use LoV to help unfreezing when your partner use SG.

Heaven Drive

Good to combine with firewall-heaven drive combo. With that combo, you can clean alarms’ mob easily. And one good part about Heaven Drive is, you can use this to do damage on hiding enemies (say like assassin or any creamy card users). For this spell, if you have enough points, put around 3-5.

Waterball

Since drake changed its element, we can’t do wb level 5 to mvp anymore. But when sage is coming, this spell might be useful. Suggestion: Level 4

Frost Nova(credit Remi-Kun)

It has random freezing just like frost diver. The difference is, it doesn’t freeze the target that you cast, but it freezes the other enemies in some certain range. And when Frost Diver deals damage per cast, Frost Nova doesn’t deal any damage to monster at all. I heard this spell is not good but if you know how to use it well, please give more info on it.

Spell combo that you can use in your wizards’ life.

There are more so just be creative.
FW= firewall, JT= Jupiter thunder, FD= frost diver, bolts= fire, cold, lightning bolts, IW=ice wall, SG=storm gust, MS=meteor storm, LoV=lord of vermilion, HD= heaven drive, SW=safety wall

With firewall

FW/vFW-bolts/JT/HD
FW/vFW-FD-JT
FW-vFW-vFW/bolts/JT
Quagmire-vFW/FW-bolts/JT/HD
Quagmire-FW-SG/LoV/MS

Without Firewall

FD-JT
Quag-FD-JT
SG-LoV(2 wizards)
IW(trap monsters)-FD-JT
IW(trap monsters)-bolts
IW(box yourself)- whatever you want :3 they can’t touch you beside doing magic attack to you.
SW-anything.
And so on.

MVP

It means Most Valuable Player. Anybody who deals the most is the MVPer. Lots of players play wizards for this purpose. Well I would say it depends now. When you are high level, it’s all goes by chance. And it’s not easy to solo mvping anymore. I will post some solo wise mvp styles from the previous thread. Whether it’s working or not go find it out.

(credit stryder)

both agi and vit are good in the right circumstances
vit is better for pvp and mvp because in pvp many builds are crit so your agi will never dodge them anyway and aspd is not your concern. vit will give you that extra hp needed to survive, freeze and jt them. vit for mvp helps for the same reason because of surviving a hit should you make a mistake and that would also contribute to you getting mvp, taking damage. its not very likely a wizard would try to dodge an mvp with its minions with 70 or so agi even with quag
however vit can sometimes cause you to be a punching bag for monsters and delays your inevitable death. while you do not have a phen clip your cast gets cancelled, in such situations the agi build can get your spell off before anything happens to you, and also works better for mob training as getting hit wont leave you in such a hit stun that the rest of the mob will take you down just like that.

First method.
VFW – Fire pillar (do it continuously). It’s pain in the !@#$%^&* but it worked somehow.

Second method.
Using regular bolts (example: fire bolt lvl 10) can get you a MVP. As long as you aren't die and make the most damage, you'll win.

Third method.
Using Safety Wall. Make sure you have proper armors to fight the boss. Say like boss cast LoV, it’s better to have dustiness or dokaebi card to minimize the magic damage. (same thing appeal to all methods). SW-casting spells is one of the best way to mvp

Fourth method.
Using MS/SG. LoV? No idea. This is box style that (stryder) brought into this forum. Dang it took forever to find it.

firewall holds monsterin place, while you cast 2 icewalls on x tile all thats important is that the spacing between the two walls is no more than 5 tiles apart so your other icewalls can close it off, the cast tiles must be on the same row as you so they turn out vertical, next...

(EDITED the rest)

I think fourth method(ice caging) is outdated. Sure you can use it as a reference but don't box the boss completely. The boss will teleport if it can't get access to hit you.

This might work....I think of this way because I don’t want the monsters bounced to the side and start attacking you or priest. Please check and confirm it ^^

Status Points

For wizard, status points have a little bit different uses than melee classes.
I will assume we are all relying on our magic attacks. If anyone want to be a fighting wizard, then you can follow the regular information. Anything below are some additional information aside from the main side.

http://ro.nitro7.com/html/ro/stats.php

STR: Useless for Magic attack
AGI: Quagmire + high agi will help wizard to dodge better.
VIT: Recover faster from stun attack.
DEX: Faster in Casting. 1 dex = .666667 % reduction.
LuK: Lucky dodge is pretty good but never invest here more than the initial build.

Since I am more familiar to my own build, I will post int/dex/vit stat wise first. I will include job 50 bonus without any additional cards.

Int/dex/vit
This build is flexible. I don’t know why people want an exact reduction time instead of having decimal on it. For example, 75 dex (50% reduction time) instead of 80 dex (53.33% reduction time). The main purpose of this build is to stay alive with massive hp and fast cast compare to other vit 1 build. In my experience, it worked pretty well to survive from mob. Lag Spike is also one of my consideration to put more into this stat. Another reason is in PvPing, stun effect can be reduced with higher vitality.

First choice
STR: 1+1
AGI: 1+8 -------------flee 108
VIT: 64+1------------HP = 5.3k+|| SP 1.8K
INT: 99+12-----------Matk = 336-595
DEX: 69+6-----------Cast reduction = 50%
LUK: 9+2------------Lucky Dodge = 2%

Second choice
STR: 1+1
AGI: 1+8 -------------flee 108
VIT: 44+1------------HP = 4.7k+|| SP 1.8K
INT: 99+12-----------Matk = 336-595
DEX: 84+6-----------Cast reduction = 60%
LUK: 9+2------------Lucky Dodge = 2%

Pure Int/dex
The main purpose of this build is fast casting. As what we know, some people love to see 10 seconds spell has been reduced into 3 seconds. The good part of this build is, having chance to kill boss (MVP) or regular monsters faster than any other builds. I guess the motto should be “kill before being touched.”

Pure Int/Dex
STR: 1+1
AGI: 1+8 -------------flee 108
VIT: 1+1------------HP = 3.3k+|| SP 1.8K
INT: 99+12-----------Matk = 336-595
DEX: 99+6-----------Cast reduction = 70%
LUK: 9+2------------Lucky Dodge = 2%

Int/agi/dex
The main purposes are to dodge monsters and fast casting. With the aid of quagmire, a wizard can dodge as good as a sin. I have no idea how many agi should you invest but you have to consider the monsters’ flee rate chart well. I think 170+ flee rate (without whisper card) build is good enough. To determine how many agi do you need, you need to make sure that your agi will be high enough to dodge your favorite hunting areas.

Let’s take alarm as an example
From the main site, it’s said that we need 223 flee rate to dodge the alarm. I don’t know if the stat calc is reliable but having 70+ agi with quagmire you can pretty much dodge the alarm as well as an assassin at your current level.

One example of int/agi/dex build.
STR: 1+1
AGI: 66+8 -------------flee 173(without whisper card)
VIT: 1+1------------HP = 3.3k+|| SP 1.8K
INT: 99+12-----------Matk = 336-595
DEX: 69+6-----------Cast reduction = 50%
LUK: 1+2------------Lucky Dodge = 1%

Int/agi/vit
Pretty much the same except you alter dex with vit. This build is not that popular btw.
