I. Introduction - What this guide is about.
II. Training - Guide on what to raise and why.
III. Equipment - Tools of the trade.
IV. Strategies - What to do once you got everything you need.

[Introduction]

Annihilators are the flagship troops of the Accretian Empire. They have high damage skills and damage output potentials but they are by no means a walk in the park to master. Though it may seem simple at first, many might be missing out on maximizing their abilities when playing an Annihilator. This is meant to open up new and old options to an already capable class, especially for more offense and more defense.

[Training]

Anyone who reads this guide should already know how to play RF Online. Get your gear, do your quests, and level up and raise your PTs. This section will just briefly discuss what you need to train and why. You don't need special equipment (other than Specialist crafted ammo at times) when starting out a new gunner.

It's easy enough to get experience points to level up with PL (Power Level) parties. You can kill Ace Brutals from Lv 20~35, Turncoats from Lv 30~35, then monsters in Ether at Lv 35+. So just focus on raising the appropriate skills that you will need and worry about leveling when you have them.

Remember, your initial goal is to build up a well-trained character to Lv 40~45. Focus on this, though you should still participate in Chip Wars if the Archon/Council calls for it.

<PTs>

There are only 3 PTs that you really need to focus on - Launcher, Range, and Defense PTs.

Launcher - This is your most basic PT. Most of your offense will revolve around this. Get it as high as humanly possible. Launcher PT is easy to raise due to high damage from the weapon and a selection of elemental ammunition.

Range - Aside from the increased movement speed and elemental resistances of Ranger armor, you will also need to raise this to increase your offensive capabilities. Get this as high as possible as well.

Defense - This will determine if you're gonna die in one, two, or three hits from the enemy. A dead Annihilator doesn't deal damage. That's the basic rule. Don't neglect this PT.

<Skills>

You also need to increase your Range Skill Pts. Again, this will play a big part in your potential offense and defense. You need Basic (30) to unlock Expert and you will need Basic (50)/Expert (50) to unlock Elite. Your combat skills will still give PTs even if they are already GM level and you can stick coins in your F1 keys to raise your buffs while you sleep.

Offensive Skills - Select either Bow or Gun and raise the appropriate set of skills to GM.

Bow - Fast Shot (Basic), Multi-Shot (Expert), Destructive Shot (Elite)
Gun - Fast Shot (Basic), Aim Shot (Expert), Wild-Shot (Elite)

Beneficial Buffs - Here are the two you'll really need. Raise them as high as you can. Use +1 skill amulets to get them to GM before any serious engagement.

Basic - Rapid Reload (Faster attack speed with ranged weapons)
Expert - Agility (Increases Dodge Rate)

[Equipment]

Once you start getting to a decent level, you'll need to take time to farm for cash and hunt for your gear. Having a specialist processing ores for you gives you a really good start on the talics, but if not you can skill carve yourself a decent set of equipment.

<Basic>

Overdrive Chargers - More damage. Get the 5 minute ones from Ether.
Cure Chargers - Debuffs hurt. Always carry 1~2 stacks of these.
Siege Kit/A.Siege Kit - Always have a couple. Siege kits give +20% atk/def, A.Siege Kits give +35% atk.
HP Charger - Bring a stack of the highest one incase you need it, then carry what you need for PT/Leveling.
Stamina Charger - Some skills use SP so bring enough.
FP Charger - Don't forget these either.
Grenade Launcher (Lv 1) - Pack one Acid Grenade. Never know when you can use it.
Giga Ammo - For all your guns and launchers. Saves on space. Get the Giga Rockets from Ether.

<Armor>

It will be good to get Intense armor for the levels where you can focus on PT training. This will reduce monster damage and overall cost of potions. Get a set for both Ranger and Launcher. Costs have gone down so it should be realistic for you to earn enough cash to get the sets.If you did your job right you should have near max or GM PTs by the time you hit Lv 38~40.

If you are on a tight budget, just get the Intense Launcher sets. You can still use ranged weapons with those. Just bring a normal ranger set of the same level to move faster when going from place to place.

Lv 29 sets - PT on Snatcher Bites at Lv 30.
Lv 35 sets - PT on SpellLedeuadians/Ace Brutals at Lv 35.
Lv 39 sets - PT on Turncoats/Snatcher Rex at Lv 40.

<Weapons>

The weapons that you'll be needing are getting more and more affordable. At low levels, if you know a specialist, just have them craft elemental/special ammunition for your guns. That will be enough to PT. At Lv 30, get an Int bow or gun for PT. You won't need an Int Cannon if you just want to PT but it helps if you have one, especially when farming for cash and items.

Lv 30 - Int Siege Bow/Int Lightning Gun, Int Cannon
Lv 35 - Int Gun Bow/Int Gatling Gun, Int Bazooka
Lv 40 - Int Beam Siege Bow/Int Bolt Rifle, Int Flame Thrower*

* Note - If you are turned off by the fire-only element of the Lv 40 Flame Thrower, a +3 keen Int Bazooka does just as much damage and allows you to change elements. If you have a +3~4 keen Int Bazooka, you don't need to look for a Lv 40 launcher.

<Accessories>

Save some money on the side because you'll need a little extra kick for your weapons. Here's what's generally available that you should save up for:

<Offense>

Bracer (+5% Attack) - I suggest skipping these and saving up for a 7% or a 10%.
Bracer (+7% Attack) - Get a pair of these if you're impatient.
Bracer (+10% Attack) - Aim to get a pair of these. Don't worry too much about the elemental resistances.

<Defense>

Headset (+10% Damage Avoidance) - You'll definitely need a pair of these for your upcoming battles. Get them.
Headset (+5% Defense) - If it's really cheap, go grab a couple. Mainly to reduce the ouch of PT training.
Headset (+7% Defense) - A couple of these should be ok for PT training.
Headset (+10% Defense) - If you're really rich, grab two of these to make PT training easier.

Bracer (+15% HP/FP) - A couple of these are ok if you can get them cheap. Helps PT training on tough monsters when you want to conserve on pots.
Bracer (+25% HP/FP) - If you need to break through the enemy line to get into the core after winning CW, can't go wrong with a pair of these. Also good when PT training/Leveling when you don't need the damage.

<Elementals>

These are very rare pit boss drops. They have multiple bonuses such as additional SP, movement, and they usually have a mix of +atk/+def or +atk/+dodge. Some of these reach up to +25% atk. They are very hard to acquire right now, but since Accretia is a heavy boss-huning race, the supply will increase eventually.

<Talics>

Mercy Talic - Decide at what level you will be doing some heavy fighting against the other races and make a +4 Mercy launcher/ranger normal landing (boots). This will give you +45 Damage Avoidance. Upgrade your Int gear with this at yor own risk.
Grace Talic - Other Rangers have high dodge, don't want to miss on important shots. Upgrade a normal glove to +4 Grace. Upgrade your int gear with this at your own risk.
Keen Talic - You won't need this until you make your final weapon sets, preferrably at Lv 45. You'll need to get a +3~4 Keen Int Gun/Bow and Launcher or a +5~6 Keen non-int Gun/Bow and Launcher at Lv 45.
Favor Talic - +2~3 Favor int armor or +4~5 favor non-int armor. Save up those high slot gears.

[Strategies]

<Offensive>

You can mix up combat while wearing Ranger or Launcher armor. Have your Gun/Bow and Launcher in your shortcut. You'll have a whole set of skills available for you to chain while on the move.

You can go Heavy Shot (Launcher) + Final Blast (Launcher) + Destructive Shot (Bow) + Multi-shot (Bow) + Fast Shot (Bow) or mix it up any other way you like. Heavy shot has a longer casting time than the others so it's best to start off with it.

You will need to master how to switch weapons quickly. After the last skill, take a step to the side then switch. You will have to break off attacking for a second to switch quickly and this is the fastest way to do it. Just click on the space beside you. You keep your lock on your target but you stop attacking long enough for you to change from Launcher to Bow.

This will allow you to have a higher damage output as opposed to just sticking to Heavy Shot + Final Blast, but as stated above, you will need to upgrade both types of weapons.

This style also allows you to keep on the move if there are too many enemies to risk going into siege mode.

***

Chain Rocket might have a long delay time but it does have a really powerful attack. It is great if you want to take down a really key figure in the opposing army or when the Chip during CW is down to the last 1~2%. It will give you a better chance for the last hit.

***

If you have a Battle Leader or Scientist with you, the elemental rockets and Flame Throwers become really powerful. They have a Lv 40 grenade that instantly reverses the elemental resistances of a target. If you have a Flame Thrower and the cora ranger had +120 Fire resist, it suddenly becomes -120 Fire resist making for some really painful damage. Unfortunately the grenade launchers do not work on MAU.

***

Annihilators can mix up Siege Kits and Advance Siege Kits when forming the siege line. Though the normal Siege Kits deal less damage, more frequent Compound Siege shots allow for more AoE damage to be thrown.

<Defensive>

The main problem with siege mode is that it makes you vulnerable to enemy attack, especially MAUs. Fortunately for us Annihilators are Rangers and they have access to Ranger skills.

Goliaths (melee) are not as accurate as you might think. When forming a siege line, switch to your +4 Mercy Landing (shoes) and be sure to have GM level Agility on as well as Siege Mastery and wear your two +10 Damage Avoidance accessories.

This will give you a total dodge of around 90+ which is enough to make most enemies (especially Goliaths) miss 50~75% of the time. Even if they deal high damage, a string of misses will allow you to catch up with potions and survive longer.

If the entire siege line had high dodge, then MAUs will have a harder time destroying it as they will miss a lot on the high dodge Annihilators, even if several of them focus fire on one.

Other classes will also miss, making you harder to kill in the long run. Even spells miss sometimes so it is also useful against Cora.

The dodge setting will also help you get through the Core if other races are blocking it and it's good if fighting multiple enemies. It will be more useful than raw Defense.

You can add up any additional information. :)
