Earlier this month it was reported that Blizzard had around 1.2 million players leave world of warcraft in search for something better. Blizzard said that while revenues where up they lost players on the Asia markets. However the numbers for Blizzards China partner NetEase just came out and they paint a different picture.
NetEase reported a giant jump in revenue and directly linked it to their growing world of warcraft user base on china. This is a year over year rise in revenue for their online games.
For the September 30,2011 quarter NetEase made around 277 millions US dollars. This is also up almost 40% from last year. So did blizzard try to hide the fact of a loosening grip for the USA markets, or is NetEase just managing the WoW servers better than blizzard can?
