Currently, Terrans fare poorly against Protoss opponents. The Zealot, Sentry and Stalker combination almost always beats the standard Starcraft 2 Terran strategy of a Marine, Marauder and Dropship combination. The following Starcraft 2 strategy guide will demonstrate how to hold your own and win against Protoss as Terrans. This Starcraft 2 strategy utilizes a combination of Siege Tanks, Ghosts, and Marines (for anti-aircraft support) as the main components of your army. The EMP ability of Ghosts can drain the shields of Protoss units. Due to this ability, Ghosts are becoming increasingly popular in Starcraft 2 strategies.
Get a Supply Depot at 9 supply and a Barracks at 11 supply. Any scouting attempts by the enemy will give him the impression that you are going for the standard Marines and Marauders combination. Build your first Refinery at 13 supply and keep some Marines ready to ward off any Zealot attacks. Once you hit 15 supply, upgrade to an Orbital Command with the Marines covering you while you build. This Starcraft 2 strategy requires a lot of gas; build a second Refinery at 16 supply. Double your Marine training capacity by adding a Fusion Reactor to your Barracks. Now, build a Factory instead of a second Barracks. Once the Factory is built, make a few Hellions and also start building a Starport. Attach a Tech Lab on your Factory to get Siege Tanks. Add a Tech Lab to your Starport as well. Get a Raven as soon as the Tech Lab is built - they are useful for warding off observers and also prove useful later in the game.
Now in this Starcraft 2 strategy Siege Tanks become your primary focus. Keep a sufficient force of Marines and Hellions to beat back any enemy strikes. Once the Siege Tanks are ready you should have sufficient firepower to protect an expansion, so go ahead and begin your first expansion. Now, shift your focus to Ghosts. Their EMP ability is very essential for the success of this Starcraft 2 strategy. Also build another Refinery to speed up Tank production.
It is also recommended to get Banshees for scouting and skirmishing. Defeated on land, your opponent will probably take to the air in which case keep Marines and some Vikings ready. Without proper anti-air support, you will find yourself very vulnerable to Void Rays and Carriers.
This Starcraft 2 strategy works very well on land. It is difficult at first but it proves very effective once you get enough practice.
