I discovered this on accident once, and now know that it can be quite helpful for pvp.
First: make certain that your officer is SF and in pvp group.
Second: position your officer near where you plan to pvp.
Third: have a macro for the officer to refresh all his officer buffs on timers: i.e. focus fire, tactics, inspiration (which totally rocks), charge!, scatter!, etc. Have them set on a repeating macro. Then, simply log out the officer near the action. Make certain the group keeps him alive until he vanishes from the world, and voila! He will continue on his macro timers to refresh your buffs until he has been logged out long enough to vanish. Enjoy.

Wait you mean even once his character has disappeared from the game he will continue buffing? Or he'll just buff until he actually disappears. There's no point if he doesn't continue doing it even though he's not actually there. The avatar only lasts up to 1-2 minutes in-game. And even then he's still attackable.
I'll hold off on whether I think this is a yay or nay till you respond, but pretty sure there's no point.

he continues to refresh the officer buffs even once he vanishes from the gameworld BUT is still in group (which actually doesn't happen until about 30 minutes after the character has left the world). So yes, it's beneficial.

yes, I'm well aware that when u log out ur macros automatically dump. My point of reference is to two characters on the same account: one officer, one another profession, if I have the officer SF and grouped with someone while I have my buff macro running, then log to character select and onto my other character, then grab an invite from whomever is leader of the group with my officer, I get officer buffs, continually refreshed on the macro timer (even though the character is no longer in-game, and even though I typed /dump when I first log back in with my other character). Simply try it for yourself before you all tell me it CAN'T work when I'm getting it to work. Bear in mind, you need to be SF with the logged out officer if you want to receive the buffs on your characters as SF.

simply put, just try it. don't say it can't work because macros dump upon logout (which yes, I'm quite aware of, thankyou). Best places to put your logged out officer are between the cloner (this is a reference to Restuss pvp) and the special forces line. Bear in mind that the buffing officer MUST also be SF if you want him to buff a character you're SF with. Now, it DOES stop refreshing the officer buff once the character has been logged out for long enough to be automatically removed from group, but all the time until then, you keep getting refreshed officer buffs. Try it. Sometimes you may need to shuttle to another town, then right back into Restuss (since I place my officer near cloner/load-spot/pvp line) in order to get a buff to refresh. Othertimes, if you get killed in pvp, I clone into restuss, run right out the cloner, and poof, officer buffs refresh. Don't knock it until you try it.

Lock this, it's been nerfed now. Albeit, I did submit this LOOOOONG ago to the point where quite a few people should've reaped its benefits but were too lazy to actually confirm it. Such is life.
