Easy way for 78K combat XP about every 10-15 minutes, for those of you who space mine or know someone who does...

First, go to the Restuss Imperial camp, and talk to Lt. Wholdor (sp?) to get the space mining quest (part 2). Then have the group all board your Y-8 and launch into space. (or board your buddies Y-8, whatever)

Second, go to deep space and mine the asteroids. On my server, there are very few other people in DS (usually none), so it takes very little time to get the 250 units needed.

Third, go back to Lt. Wholdor and turn in the mission - everyone close by will get the 78K XP and two commendations. Rinse, repeat.

This is great to help those who have little or no space skills, but need combat XP. I was taking my guild out and we were leveling nicely, and all they had to do was stand in my ship and goof off while I shot a few asteroids. :D

I assume this works for the rebs mining mission as well, but haven't tried it.

confirmed...78k xp...2 commendations...and no one was in deep space when I went there on Corbantis...

few more details though...(for those of us who haven't been to deep space before)

first...deep space is a pvp zone...so if you go out there watch your back for the opposite faction

second...you can do this in a ship other than the Y-8...I went out to deep space in my interceptor fitted with a mining laser and cargo hold and I was able to get credit for the stuff I mined...just watch out for the asteroid bandits that sometimes pop...they're tier 5 out there...

To get to deep space - Imperials:
to get out to deep space go to the Durillium Sea Hyperspace point in Endor Space and visit the Imperial base (called the Imperial Claw Station, there is a POI) closer to endor from the hyperspace point (distance varies...I've had it as close as 3km and as far as 12km depending on where I hyperjumped to) (there's one out further but it won't let you into deep space)

Rebel: (someone please give the details on this...)
(!empty($user->lang['QUOTE'])) ? $user->lang['QUOTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'QUOTE'))):
Rebel one I've heard is in dantoine (?) but I'm not sure.

(Freelancer doesn't matter since the quest is only either Imperial or Rebel)

according to this post:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/boar ... 72#M179223

to get credit for this quest you have to actually visit deep space (that's the first step of the quest)...so either your group members need to be aboard your POB/multi-person ship or they need to fly out there themselves. Also to get to deep space you don't need to be an Ace pilot like the url above says...anyone can get to deep space...(as far as I know, haven't tested to see if yachts can get out there, I'll test that tomorrow night)

remember to empty your cargo hold when you get back to Restuss...I forgot the first time...

No, you are not allowed to travel to deep space in a yacht. The space stations do not allow you to choose any options in that "civilian ship".

Also, remember that you are at risk from opposite faction players that may be up there doing the same thing, and swarms of tier 5 asteroid bandits and enemy ships.

yeah I just tested that...I didn't think there was much of a chance to get there in the yacht but I thought there might be since it has no offensive capabilities...it could simply watch fights out there...but I guess not...

as mentioned in my post...ran into one other player out there...I think they were looking for more of a fight though...he was rebel but didn't bother to attack me while I mined...

Thanks for helping clarify, thor - I was half asleep when I wrote my post, forgot to add a lot of that info!

Been doing it all night tonight, dealt with two players (both left us alone when I told them were were mining), and had to fight off asteroid bandits only twice. It's not an easy trick, but if you're outfitted with a good POB that can mine, or know someone that does, you can rack up the xp nicely.

And the commendations start to add up, too. :P

Good news guys:

You can also travel to Lok, quadrant 4. There is an asteroid there (oraganometallic) at 3700m.

You can take the 250 units there. It's NOT necessary to fly to Kessel in a pvp zone. It works perfectly.

edit: wow...nice find there rhodan...NO NEED TO GO TO DEEP SPACE PEOPLE...when you fly to lok and mine that asteroid it will complete the quest without having to enter deep space at all...which means absolutely no exposure to pvp...and quite a bit of time saved...very nice

edit #2: I wanted to test to see if you could take it even further...by just having the required minerals there when you take the quest so you can turn them back in immediately...but unfortunately it seems you are required to actually mine the minerals during the quest...ya can't just use spare minerals you have in your inventory...oh well

leveled up this morning on it...on corbantis this one is definetly giving 78k...

Eclipse is one of the servers that has moved to phase 2 I believe...it's in the list of servers in the "Call To Arms!" Announcement on the official boards. Since Phase 2 is the battle for Restuss I would be willing to bet the quest to provide minerals for building the base wouldn't be needed as much...and as such the xp level would be reduced...

get the xp while you can...looks like this one is being nerfed with the new phase...

The servers that have moved to phase 2 (I believe) are:
Ahazi, Bloodfin, Eclipse, Naritus, Radiant and Scylla

Don't expect to get the full 78k on these servers...
No word on when the rest of the servers will be moving to phase 2...
