A good list of starter downloads i found is at the top of General forum. Although labeled for crafting it can be used for kill bots and so on. Part of the problem too with why I made this request post was the FAQ tab at the top of the site took me to the wrong area but it has sense been fixed.

[ Original Post below ]
I used TaultUnleased a few years ago for Eq2 but alot has changed sense then and alot of new stuff i see there is for Vanguard.

I spent the last 4 hours wandering around searching through 6 month to almost year old posts and i was hoping to get a run down not just for me but for future people paying for this awsome service on the best first steps to get going on botting.

From what i understand for vanguard you install exumed then VGextreme ( no clear reason just because =P) then that alone should give you the ablity to have your in game charicter run around automatically killing stuff ( with some information inserted into one of those programs of course) Then these other bots are sort of like extras with more features that allow the community to have ever improving and different styles of botting. Does that sound about right?

It would be really helpful if the Download button at the top of the site actually led directly to everything you need to download. I understand from past experance that its no simple task to get a kill bot going but if it wasnt for a handful of people sounding like they got somthing to work i would have asked for a refund in the first hour on the site from there not being a clear path to a working setup. Not to say once people play with it and read and read some more about how to fix problems a fully working killbot cannot be born just it felt unorganized from a noob scripter perspective.

First, VGExtreme alone will not bot your character; you need to download a bot script to do that.

The starter script, if everything is working properly, will create a window with some basic character stats and nearby mob information.

Scripts that are available can be found in the VGExtreme Programs forum.

The easiest one to run without configuration is the VGExtreme Radar. That is a good starting point just to make sure all the offsets are being read properly.

When you are ready to try bots, find a thread with a bot that you're interested in, and READ AND FOLLOW ANY SETUP INSTRUCTIONS. There are none where you can click a button to download, click start and magically have it play the game for you. Most are written by different individuals and have their own requirements. If you can't get it to work, read other posts in the thread where you got it and if that doesn't help, post a message yourself.

Hope that helps.

Last note: bear in mind that most of these scripts are submitted and maintained by the user community, which is why it seems disorganized. With a little persistence, it will pay off.

That was helpful but slightly missing my point. I was hoping for me and anyone else could click on a sticky post, i believe it is called that, that has a list of definition of technical terms and some starter corrisponding downloads. That way when I read the forum i can quickly understand what it is i am downloading and how that tool is used. I understand Starting script roughly from common sense but from now on if it is not stated "this is a starter script" i may be confused to what i am looking at as i have been thus far do to some stuff on the other sites seeming like stand alone programs in how they work. I have downloaded several things but have not been able to look at them and put the pieces together . When i get to that tonight i suppose this may show that the bulk of my iggnorance was from not yet looking at the programs /engins/ scripts yet. But yeah a list of definitions would be awsome!

Forget it. I tryed doing the crafting bot for noobs and it ended up not working like i thought it would. I remember Xunleashed having a very understandable user interface. I am confused to why the crafting bot guide tells me to download both Xunleashed and exhumed. getting a bit overwhelming to set up the files and having nothing usful come from it.
Why why why is this not a single download? minus like the debugger and scripts although compiling a starter bot into a whole ziped folder seems doable to me. From some other prgrams i got from the main taultunleashed site i have found the readmes to be extreamly lacking. So knowing if i am putting this stuff in the right place seems to be the bulk of my problem.

Normally there will be 2. One for the service and one for the program people create. As for the problem i think VSOH needs an update for the service which should happen in the next few days.

ok got it to work... still no kill bot yet due to RL taking my time. However I like to point out that the crafting noob guide talks of a mouse program that suggests it gives you X and Y info on your screen... yeah but doesnt tell you where to get such a program if you dont have one.. info on that would be great.

Also Can i assume for all future bots i download that i put the files in the "include" folder unless told otherwise?

In the newbie guide, top section, it will say "global hook ..... download HERE". Click the words "download HERE" in that post

Generally you can put them in your Exhume folder and most of the bots will self-extract the support files into the /include directory or whatever subdirectory was decided by the programmer.

Just an FYI for crafting bot... the newbie guide is focused on the older bot written by strabomeeks that hasn't been updated in a while. I posted a crafting bot based on strabo's original that is considerably more advanced and have the "how-to" in the bot OP.

the global hook link as long as i have been here hasnt worked. It takes you to a down website and redirects you to a homepage which is a mess of stuff. I tryed searching for mouse and global hook but could not find anything that even seemed to apply.

ok thank you beergeek. i see the radar bot is popular, so i downloaded it and got it going. however, there was no instructions on how to use it whatsoever. is there anyone that knows how to get the harvesting going, or any information that will help me better understand how it works. as of now, all i see is "add, insert, delete, etc" and it doesnt seem to work. is this common for posted bots to not have a readme?

Entirely up to the author. The radar hasn't been updated in a long time (although it still works fine), so I wouldn't expect a guide for that to appear from the author all of a sudden.

Everything in the radar can be done from the GUI, so just tinker around with it for a bit. Once you figure it out, you're welcome to post your own "how-to" guide in the forums to help out others. You may even get rewarded points for the guide from the mods :)

I have played with it... got it to make me run sometimes... any advise on something i should play with because i am clearly missing some combo of button clicking. I am assumeing from what you have said you got it to store waypoints at least. The obvious just isnt working for me... figured i could just click add and somethign would happen but no data is being inserted or changed when i click most of the buttons.
