OK.
I soooo want to enjoy this game, but the way i see it is all you can do is mine for the first few weeks to get enough cas to be able to explore safely..... maybe im wrong, please feel free to enlighten me.
So anyhow, i set up a macro, that seemed to be mining Scordite for me with no issues. When i returned to the computer a few hours later, i find that i am nothing more than a pod in the care of some kind of drone. Anyhow dying is a new experience for me so i was confused. I warped back to the base and docked, to find the insurance company has gicven me a raptor... Gee thanks....
Anyhow my quetion is, I suppose, has anyone any idea what happened to me..!! Ammold is a 1.0 zone and i would have thought i could have been floating around all week without issue... Is it possible i locked onto a player instead of an asteroid and used the mining lasers on it... thus prompting a response.... i dunno... all i know i i lost a 200,000 ship and only made 300,000 in a 4 hour period...... Humph.
Anyway, giving macro's a miss from now on... gonna stick to the manual methos... slower but safer......

What i think happend Someone came along and scanned your ship saw you was full of ore, they got there alt to kill you with several missiles and got killed himself by concord responce. Thus leaving there alt in the same condition as you but alowing them to come over in a hauler and collect all your minerals ! Its just bad luck

He really needs to check the killmail to see what happened. I doubt a PC scanned his frigate...I mean common, why waste the time with an alt for all 400m3 of ore at the most.....veldspar in 1.0 space I'm sure at that.
I'd bet your macro accidentally targeted a PC or PC can and probably opened up on it. You running 2 mining lasers or one? Either way, I'd say that was your culprit.

hmm some people just make it their cause to kill macro miners, so that might have been the reason - but definitely not the loot!

tault_wtfhaxpum (!empty($user->lang['WROTE'])) ? $user->lang['WROTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'WROTE'))): I don't think there are any rats in 1.0 space. I've seen them spawn in 1.0 before actually. I thought maybe it was a bug but I asked someone at the time because it suprised me and they said they can spawn in 1.0 too but its just kinda rare.

All it will be is an alt or multiple alts in kessies killing macro miners.
NPC Rats cannot spawn in 0.9 and 1.0

What happened????
You got zapped due to using a macro........I personally and so do my other
corp mates hunt you fools down, POP and LOOT you. Why you ask?
Well.........We came up the hard way, mined our butts off to get what
we wanted and then progressed......NOW everyone wants to cheat and
get everything for nothing. So my dear, you are a victim to a suicide alt,
AND if you continue to macro mine it wont be the last .....
May the Flames begin....LOL

How do you know a ship is running a mining macro?
FWIW I'm a pre-newbie and haven't started playing EOL yet. I plan to start the free 14-day trial when my new graphics card arrives. Until then I'm trying to learn all I can about the game. So, how can you tell if someone's running a macro?

Usually bumping a suspected ship with your own works.....if no response in local chat then it is sure bet someone is AFK.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks! I thought about chatting but figured they might just have chat turned off, or just ignoring everybody. But if you actually bump their ship and don't hear from them it would be very suspicious!
