Late last night before going to bed I post something in the Exploits and Hidden Features forum. I checked the other forums and the post wasn't moved. I didn't think there was anything wrong with what I posted. It was just a free little app I found to track DPS. Maybe something went wrong and for some reason the post didn't go through. Could one of ya guys drop me a PM if it was removed for some reason. If not I'll repost later.
Thx

Due to the huge chance that the file contains virus, spyware or other malware binary downloads are generally not allowed on these boards.
Thus I'd recommend you not to post files such as these.

The program does not contain anything malicious that I can tell. And works great! Just for kicks I ran both ad-aware and MS anti-spyware scans and found nothing on my system. I also scanned the file for viruses and it's not infected with any known viruses. The webpage that I posted does not appear to have any malicious code. The only advertising on their site is ads by google. I seriously doubt there is anything malicious in this program or their website. But, whatever... It doesn't matter to me. I was just trying to contribute to the community. In the future I won't post any "non-xunleashed" material.

Yes, you might feel that you're trustworthy enough but the truth is:
Posts such as yours are VERY often used to spread tools such as keyloggers or account stealers. Lots of people have lost all their gear and evern accounts by trusting very well designed web pages with only google ads.
Not too long ago someone modified a very well known log parser for ffxi and posted it on several forums claiming it was great and that lots of others use it. A crapload of people downloaded it and lost all their gear.
And an antispyware / virus scanner doesn't protect against these tools. This is because they are often custom made to circumvent them and generally not yet known of by virus vendors.

Also, posts that just plain peddle other wares (free or not) will be removed. This is not an advertising forum.

Ok, well I apologize for posting a link to a website containing a program to track DPS. I was unaware this would upset you guys so much. It was not my intent to "peddle" anyone's software. It was also not my intent to harm anyone. I merely remembered reading a post on here where someone was asking about a DPS counter possibly being added to xunleashed. I also played WoW and downloaded cosmos which does not require xunleashed from here so I assumed it was ok.
All though I want you to know I fully understand and respect your concern. Your right anyone's software could contain a key logger or some other kind of malicious intent behind it. I trust the software mainly because I've seen it use and I know many people who use it. Once I tried it and found it to be quit useful I just wanted to share the wealth.
However, I would encourage you guys to contact the admin of that site if you would like. He does not seem to hide much about himself. On his website he gives his character's name and server he plays on. He also lists an email address for contact purposes. He also displays and email from SOE explaining what he is allowed to do with his program. Basically they say, you can copy to the clipboard in windows and paste it in game. This is exactly what the program does. Not to mention if you do a search on eq2players you can find the link to download it.
Admitably, this could all be faked you are 100% correct. All I was trying to do was contribute something meaningful to your community. I apologize for the lengthy explanation. I just want you guys to understand my thinking as a fairly new member of 4 months or so.
In closing, I thank you for the explanation and thank you for the awesome program. I will refrain from posting any external downloadable information. Also, thanks for the quick response and assistance.
