The real issue here is what sony's idea of crafting should be. Should it be a money sink that is to be done when you have the extra cash? Or should it be equivelent to adventuring. If it is to be equivelent to adventuring then crafters should be able to make small profits on their crafts.
Time is money. And we all know crafting takes time. If someone makes 20 silver per hour adventuring, then they should make 20 silver per hour crafting. However, this model is only relevent if sony thinks crafting is equivelent to adventuring.
I think sony's idea of crafting is that its more of a long term investment. While adventuring yields imediate returns, crafting is more long term. For instance a level 50 crafter can definetly generate more money than a level 50 adventurer. But the time and money it took to get that level 50 crafter was greater than the level 50 adventurer.
Of course macros and exploits !@#$%^&* this model up pretty good
