EQ2 - Steath Naming Policy Change : EverQuest 2 General Discussions

Not sure when it was done, but sharp-eyed player Avaela posted that these SOE naming policies are no more:

"Non-fantasy oriented names from popular media. These names can be either fictional (e.g. Rambo, Darthvader) or non-fictional (e.g. Garth Brooks, Pierce Brosnan, Ronald Reagan, Michael Jordan).

Fantasy-oriented names that are easily recognized from popular existing
media (e.g. Merlin, Gandalf, Belgarath, Drizzt, Tanis)."

In the revised version, the naming policy just asks that you don't violate copyright or intellectual property rights.

Why the change? Who knows. Maybe the old policy was probably too hard to enforce, or perhaps the fact that SOE sometimes skates pretty close to the line with their NPC naming has something to do with the change!

Anyway, you can make all the "Tinkerbelle" Fae that you want now. Just remember, being able to do something doesn't mean it won't get you infinite eye rolls from everyone else.
