EQ2 crashes every time : EverQuest 2 Premium Discussions

I have downloaded the Unleashed Client and Crafter plug-in and installed both.

On OPTION tab of the client I changed the path to launch EQ2 then hit the play button on the Xunleashed tab.

It launches EQ2, I sign in and choose my character. Hit play on the game and it begins to load. As soon as the status bar gets to "Receiving zone info" I get a windows error message and the game crashes.
Do I have some settings wrong on the client or am I just an idiot? I know the answer to that so.... Here is the log file:

Uncheck the TCPIP packet sniffer.

Unchecked th TCP/IP sniffer but it did not help. Still crashes in the same place.

Post a new log.

Make sure you are not running FRAPS or any software that tries to get screen grabs.

You may need to update video drivers and get the latest version of directx.

You may also need to download all latest windows OS patches/updates from microsoft.

Not running any software like FRAPS…that I know of. I did update directx before I posted this thread, as I saw errors detecting problems with it. I am running Windows XP and haven’t downloaded the XP service pack as I have heard it causes a lot of problems. But I will try it when I get home this evening and post another log file if it still crashes.

Yes, the service packs are a requirement.

Will do, thanks for all your help. Still at work for several more hours but will post as soon as I get home ,downloaded the service pack and test.

I am having the same issue. I'm going to download all the updates now. I hope this gets resolved becuase it seems like a big issue. I'm on the verge of wanting a refund.

Well downloaded all updates but SP2. Still didn't work.Is Sp2 a req? I'm downloading it now so we will find out.

Didnt work for me...

I downloaded and installed all of the latest and greatest Microsoft has to offer. I re-downloaded DirectX 9.0c and installed it again to make sure that was updated as well.
I launched the game several times and at one point I did see the Crafter toolbar at the bottom of the screen. But when I hit the final play button to play the game, it still crashed in the same place. Here is my error log:

steiner093, I have no idea then.

I can only guess it is a system/OS problem or something you have running on your system.

At this point, I'm just gonna say ask admin for a refund. I'm sorry I couldnt get ya working.

you still need to uncheck sniffer

I am not going to give up yet. I will try messing around with some of the settings to see if it does anything.

Does my screen need to be set to a certain resolution like 1280x1024 or 1024x768? I am going to mess with that as well to see if it helps at all. Have you noticed any patterns with the game crashing more often with Windows XP Pro?
