Welllll, it still works... kinda. You can still /PONDER NAME, the reply will be YOU PONDER. or YOU PONDER . Note the placement of the period. no space after PONDER and the mob is not up, a space between PONDER and the period means mobs(s) is up. Where you get a less than accurate answer is, for instance, in Ferroot, the bouncers all have Bouncer as first name, so \PONDER BOUNCER FUG will return a positive indication if ANY of the bouncers are up, even if Fug isnt.
they only nerfed the ponder command but not other emote commands. I personlly use /point so if you wanted to see if the mob Jack Daniels was up all you would type:
/point "Jack Daniels"
Mob is up:
<you> points at .
Mob not up:
<you> points.

I took this a step further and set up a macro that pokes the various named mobs. And included it in my after fight sequence on the hunter bot. And if it returns a positive response for mob being up.. i.e. the space between period.. then i have it hit another macro key which will alert certain individuals of the presence of a named mob being up
