Well, as many of you are probably aware, everquest 2 is EXTREMELY computer itensive, and I find that I am dealing with technicals more then actually playing.. and hell.. it gets old. A friend of mine recently bought this game along with his girlfriend and I was wondering What people that play this game think about it, what the pro's and con's are, wut race's are good and what to avoid, and if it is worth the Backbreaking *rolls eyes* 20$ retail cost. Basically I know just about nothing about this game, but it looks like a different style then every other MMO out there (everquest 2, WoW, etc.) Any input is helpful :) thanks.

well i think FFXI is worth trying at least, its good for a while but gets old fast.

sorry for the butchering of the english language that is about to occur.

im just going to list cons;

same graphic engine as ps2.
shittiest UI you will EVER find.
you look for parties longer than you level.
when you do get a party usually everyone is a moron and you die a couple times, coming out to a big 0 exp gained for your 6 hours.
if your character gets to good square will nerf the !@#$%^&* out of it.
if you make to much money, square will nerf it.
Square WILL nerf it, no matter what. It will be nerfed.
if its too easy, square will make it too hard to even think about with a full alliance of 75s.
everything takes about 1 year to do.
horrible service.
GMs dont do !@#$%^&* !@#$%^&* worth a damn !@#$%^&*
crap !@#$%^&* customer support.
SE doesnt give a !@#$%^&* about you, they just want your money.
If its nots SEs way, its not right.
if you try to make the game better expect a ban
if you do anything expect a ban
updates are almost daily.
the servers are a !@#$%^&* joke.
expect a full day of maitenance at least 1 time a week.
The logon process takes longer than youll actually end up playing.
I actually think it would be impossible to make the game more uncustomizable by the user.
expect everyone to call you a noob and never help you out.
The game is flocking with "1337zor LOLZ!!!!" noobs that speak their own language; noobish, which is impossible to understand by anyone who has a brain.
the economy sucks !@#$%^&* because sqaure didnt want to do it right. so newcomers are so !@#$%^&* in the @$$ its not even funny.
inflation is through the roof.
everything costs to damn much.
you have to have Alot of money to make money, so, GL with that.
you have to farm more than you play.
PVP system is just laughable.
The town layouts are just !@#$%^&* rediculous.
quests are useless.
Impossible to get anywhere without speedhacking.
It takes forever to get anywhere without speedhacking.
you have to devote about 12 hours just to start playing.
YOU CAN NOT SOLO.
EVERYTHING MUST MUST MUST BE DONE WITH PARTIES.

thats about 1/100 of the list of cons. I honestly cant think of any pros.

The only reason i even log on is to devolope bots and other tools for the community because I think its fun. (I know, im a freakin nerd)

yes, I do hate ffxi, a lot.

kinda both. after the first 10 levels, its hard to lvl witout a pt, but its possible, it would just go reallly slow. a party consists of usually 6 people.

Partying rules, when you get high level xD. 1-60, 20% of players are just useless, and it only takes one person to ruin a perfectly good party.

actually i foiund the noob ratio wasnt bad after level 45~50

i make all my own parties and if i do find a noob....well he gets the boot, im nice at first and try to give him god info but if he doesnt take it there gone and a replacement is usually waiting. Stuff does take a long time to do and a lot of stuff is very hard to do, but ide rather play something challenging then doing 5-6 easy !@#$%^&* quests a day. the challenge of the game is what makes it fun.

Well i was a Galka (eewwwww) paladin (lvl 55) when i Quit, and I usualy died 2-4 times for a bad PT (1-2 for an average, and 0 for a good pt) because the WHM either wasted all his mp doing useless !@#$%^&*, or healing the theif with a cureIV for getting hit with an AOE that did 20 damage, or healing the wrong person, or wanted to melee and not heal; or sometimes other party members had no clue what they were doing. that covers most of them. I pretty much had to flood the chat to get a heal. keep in mind, I played beta, had a brother thats probably one of the best tanks in midgardsomr (I learned everything from him), and almost never lost aggro even if there was noob BLMs or people 2-3 levels higher than me; I was an excellent tank, so i have no !@#$%^&* clue why whms did what they did.

Every once in a while i got a party that knew what they were doing, OMG those parties were so damn nice to be in. (usually all JP XD)

I pretty much didnt lvl for about 2 months and then said F it. went to samurai(lvl 38) and didnt like that, so i quit.

its a fun game, doesnt get boring because you play with other people. why play a game at all if your by yourself, for that just stop paying for internet and go back to the ps2 / solitaire. as far as bad parties go usually there bad if ppl just sit there and /tell to other friends that its bad and never do !@#$%^&* to help the situation. i call that "!@#$%^&*" and there usually the ppl that either, disband the party randomly in the middle ofa fight to prove an E penis level. or say something stupid then disband with a "whatever noob my armor doesnt suck / weapon your just noob you noob nooby noob noob !@#$%^&* nooby nooblar n00b"

bottom line wiht any game online is the word "noob", its thrown around to much and ppl get to offended by it. makes the game really no fun at all when you cant run into anyone that doesnt spam that word.

Yeah, square cheaped out and programmed the graphic engine to the lowest common denominator, which in this case, is the PS2. Its a shame really; FFXI could have had some incredible graphics.

It still looks awesome if you tweak with it...It just has this nasty habit of ignoring your graphics card and running entirely off cpu, which means high fps + decent quality = /no.

Allow me to jump in here. Isnt the point of mmorpg's to play with other people. Parties are the whole point which is why everyone does something different and plays there role. Finding a party isnt as hard as he makes it seem its actually quite wasy. The maintenance thing is partly true. Yes it takes a lont time to get anywhere. But there are teleports and ways to makes trips shorter and less dangerous. Im a veteran EQ player and I like FF XI. I think the graphics are beautiful although not amazing by todays standard. Yes square is very particular as far as game companies go and with that attitude you will find yourself banned. If you enjoy the game and are not looking to exploit it you will be fine. The inflation thing is true and yes !@#$%^&* is expensive as hell but money can be easily made by doing conquest and auctioning crystals selling batwing stacks etc. Depending on class you wont need that much money early on anyway. The best way to get het LinkShells (clan's). I say give the game a try.

Taz
