PLD/WAR or THF/NIN help me decide :) : FFXI General Discussions - Page 3

I would choose thf/nin you'd get alot more drops. and can steal. duel wield. and everyone needs a good DD aswell as a tank. pld/war is a human punching bag that can heal. and they have some GREAT armour.
those are my thoughts.

Ok first of all....has anyone noticed that both jobs are completely different? Pld/war gets more invites for these reasons:
Tanks are in demand quite a bit
If they already have a tank they will get a DD therefor they will choose your thief... WRONG, if they need a DD they will probably get one of the million people lfg that are DD or good melee, MNK, DRK, BLU, RNG, BLM etc. You have a less of chance to get picked as a DD with so many needin this position.
There is only two real tanks in the game, PLd or NIN, if there is a spot, you will get a /tell right away.
THF can farm and has TH2, but you wont be needed as much as a PLD would, PLD/NIN can solo rather well too, as well as PLD/BLU and PLD/RDM.

Since you spend most of your time in ffxi playing endgame (73+), it's worth thinking about how useful the jobs are there.

PLDs are only the most useful tank against certain mobs. Generally NINs and WARs do a much better job. More specifically - PLDs tank the very hardest mobs...Kirin and upwards....When I go to Kirin with sky ls, there are normally a load of PLDs all queuing up to tank for 30 secs.....

THFs.....Personally, I like THFs. They do good damage at pretty much all levels, and the drop rate enhancing abilities are highly desirable.

haven't seen any war tanking end game. all i see is war/sam steel cyclone and disband.
