We are in the process of making a currency exchange for all of the games that we support. This will allow the buying/selling of game currency as well as donating currency for Premium Membership.

However, we need volunteers to help get this project started. Each volunteer will be able to make 10% for each transaction. Ie if we buy 100 platinum, if you are the volunteer that handles the transaction, you get to keep 10 platinum for yourself!!! If we are selling 100 platinum, you get to keep 10% of the profits.

Right, now we are trying to analyze if it is better to use volunteers and give back to our community or to handle the transactions ourselves.

Please give us your opinions...

This is a GREAT idea. It could also have better prices than other site so theres an added bonus to buying a subscription or donating an exploit or whatever. I'd definately love to help handel the transactions. 10% would be nice. Every bit counts.

Edit: I've got many games such as City of Heroes, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, Everquest II I'd be willing to help out with.

I don't quite understand the concept of it all, but i could most likely handle currency transactions to/from EQ2.

I forget the name of the site, but this has been done.

A very (partially?) smart fellow had his site setup very well - there was a stock ticker-esque feel to it, allowing you to view average sell order and buy order prices for all the games that he traded (most every mmo that was out at the time)

Anyway... Things were going fine for him until one day he made a huge sale to some guy who bought him out of all his SWG and WoW money. This seemed like a dream come true to him - the $$ cleared in his paypal account with no problem, and he delivered nearly $10,000 US $$ worth of virtual goods to his buyer.

What he did not plan on, is no matter what proof you have of purchase, delivery, anything (screenshots, leters from the game manfacturer, ect were all irrelevant) paypal SIDES WITH THE BUYER IN CASE OF ANY DISPUTE OVER VIRTUAL ITEMS!!

Buyer complained to paypal that he didn't recieve the virtual items (After he had), and paypal reversed the payment he made, refunding his $$ to him, and removing it from the sellers account.

I only know this is a true story because I both know that guy it happened to, and also had something similar happen to me - I sold my main Eve:online account for $400, used the companies 'character transfer system' so I had proof of the transfer, but my buyer did the same thing, and now my paypal account stands at about -379. . . Even the customer support person I had helping me from CCP (The company that produced Eve:online) paypal was uninterested in reversing the reversed payment..

BE FORWARNED!

i think i could work with FFXI and WoW, and with this currency exchange thing, are we talking about lets say trading in gil for gold and such, or just buying and selling in-game money?

It's easy to avoid problems like the above person stated with a 10k deal. You can

a) limit the amount one person can buy at one time (this could increase over time as the person gained rating as a good buyer)

b) on all transactions over a set amount require proof of identification, phone contact, and the exchange of a physical item along with the virtual item. Have it delivered UPS signature required and tada, the person signs for the item you have signature proof he received the item and the buyer is no longer only buying virtual items you now have proof he received a clothes pin that he paid 10,000 USD for :)

And there others those are just two that I can come up with off the top of my head.

As far as the idea itself I think it's a good idea, and I would definately be willing to be a middle men so to speak and do item trades for you in any games I have access to.

Right now that list of games is..

World of Warcraft
Guild Wars
Everquest
Dark Ages of Camelot (Although this one is inactive so the trade would have to be enough to cover my reactivation costs, or I would need to know I'd be able to handle enough trades to cover the cost).

If I could remember my pass and account name I could reactivate SWG as well.

Also I've been thinking about playing EQ 2 if I decided to do that I could do it there as well :)

So there are a good number of games I could help out in hehe.
