My power supply decided to vaporize and take my Radeon 9800 Pro with it.

Luckly I had a spare poser supply sitting around (not sure why but it was a good idea) and my old Geforce 4 TI400.. so my upgrade for last year went poof.. Had gotten a deal on it too $100 off sticker at Circuitcity. Hoping I can exchange it for defective =p

ATI may pull ahead, since nvidia !@#$%^&* up over a year ago, yet nvidia will pull ahead in the lead. they always do... just wait till the SLI technology is available, in the long run ATI has troubles competing with nvidia.

ATI still has a long way to go... hell my old gf4ti worked better with my ATI video capture card then ATI does with its own products.

Can't get Circuit City to replace it..
Next plan is to call Sparkle Power to see about a replacement power supply. If they say yes I'm going to see if they will reimburse me for the Video card too, or buy a replacement.
If they won't replace the card I can still goto ATI and ask about a replacement.
And if that fails.. Well the card powers up it just has ISSUES.. What it is doing makes me think that maybe.. MAYBE I might be able to fix it if I flash the bios. Cause it looks like a bad flash.

times they are a changin Nvidia used to smoke all !@#$%^&* in the VC market but ATI with the last gen. cards it seems to have switched up and I do know that Nvidia says that thier next cards are gonna bring the crown back but ATI has the fastest cards right now and the next gen. stuff that is commin(pci express) is going to be damn strong(provided mobo tech. can keep up) I look forward to the coming storm

nVidia's cards are better now, the 6800 Ultra's are DirectX9c compatible which means they will perform that much better in future titles and the chips themselves are farther away from ATI's core speed wall (which means more overclockability.) The king is back.

-Intel & nVidia fanatic.

Ok ok so Nvidia can out clock the ATI boards but all that proves is that they are sloppy. :P example I have a 9800xt my roomate has a 5950 he has got his card overclocked ALOT and my card over clocks like grandpa poops also his processor is faster than mine but I can smoke the hell out of his comp in any bench mark. this is exactly the same thing that is happening with pentium and amd (more happening per clock cycle)and BTW the new ATI x800 does beat the 6800xt not by alot but it does. look at the articles in maximum PC, PC gamer and many others not to mention every site on the net they all say its faster again not by alot but faster.I have yet to see anybody that says that the new 6800xt is faster(unless of course you ask Nvidia  )as for being better is next gen games who knows , who cares(and I'm not saying that they are, but) I'm not playing next gen games I'm playing games that are our today. and when these "next GEN" games come out I will have the new VC that will hit the store just in time :)and can you name a game that I can get from the store that can use DX9c tech?

yeh i would class myself as more ATi friendly than Nvidia friendy but if i was going to get a new card now it would be the 6800GT/ultra, the GT seems to be the fastest in most tests compared with the X800pro and you can overclock them way better, X800 hardly overclock at all if any. The 6800U is probably on par with the X800XT apart from it has pixel shader 3 which will help in next gen games probably.

however i am hearing more and more that the X800XT PE is better than the 6800 ultra express (not usre if it is express but it began with an "e" and i lost the name)

but later this year Nvidia will be releasing SLI fro dual PCI-E and that is gonna rule all if ATi dont bring something else out to counter it.

Imagine dual 6800ultras :D i may even go for dual GT's but not sure yet

I am sure ATI will bring out a card to counter whatever Nvidia comes out with as Nvidia does when ATI comes out with a new card. but my point was that simple clock speed DOES NOT determine how "fast" your card is. Its just a sales trick they use "hey, look at our new card its clocked at 1ghz on the RAM" big deal ATI can do the exact same tasks just as fast with a MUCH lower clock speed. and BTW if you have pci express and a VC that works on it any brand will work they are not "dual" cards they try to market 2 VC's in one box. by dual they mean "hey buy 2 of our VC's its faster".

ATI will replace or repair my card.
Told them the other day the video just died. When I rebooted the POST screen was having graphics issues with random pixels instead of letters/numbers in some areas and flashing blocks.
No questions about what caused the issue. Just asked me if I tried a few things like reseating the card ect.

Now to call Sparkle Power about the power supply.

lol i didnt, I have a HUGE power supply, it has to power my 8 case fans + my HUGE mobo fan lol, and the fan on my geforce4 card :P (hopefully gettin that new card soon) but I still dont know, could the power supply be the reason I had multicolored lines in my screen and then sometimes my "welcome" xp screen woudl be my background once I got into XP.
