It depends in your exp...
Supports class are bad at pvp for example: Bladedancer, SWS, Bishop, prophet, Shillen Elder, etc...
Of course that depends in your equip. I have a BD and a Own all the fighters classes and mage classes... because i know how to play with him and i know what i need to kill him, offcourse if i dont use dances i die fast...
Goods in pvp: SPS, SORC, TH, OL...
For example:
I am a TH and i will pvp with a gladiator... i put Dash and ultimate evasion, and i am inmortal, depends in : Your exp with the players, your armor, your weapon, your jewels, unique drops, etc...
But if you have exp with the player you will be inmortal...
i thing that you play in the official well i have a friend there that he's almost inmortal ... why?
Because he was a Shilen Elder then he made the subclass and become in SPS, he has a nice armor, nice jewels, nice weapon, he has a ******* casting speed, when he pvp with a TH and when the TH put ultimate evasion, dash, he sleep him, for 20 secs... he put surrender and the TH is death... with his casting speed he can do everything....
How to kill him with a TH?
Easy in your jewels u have to put unique jewels, like Ant ring that increase the resist to sleep so he cant sleep you... and u put dash and he die really fast...

Killing a mage with a dagger is a matter of surprising the mage to get in blow range. Once there, the mage is dead, if he slows you, you're dead...

Another side of this you gotta look at this is how complex the pvp is with the character you chose. If you go with a TH as your main pvp character it's pretty simple, get to your target as fast as you can and press F1, F2, F3, etc (use UE if it's target is a melee fighter)
Some mages are easy to play as a good pvp character, others are a bit more complex and actualy require you to think and stratigize in a pvp battle. So you gotta looks at all these factors when asking who is the best in PVP

Often, people assume that ranged chars are better for 1 vs 1 obviously, so the question is will your pvp be a gank and run, mass pvp, arena pvp or else?

You also have to consider is this character going to be used more on 1v1 pvp or will you be in group situations when pvping.
In groups each member is a valuable asset to the unit. Loss of any one of those members could be fatal for the group in its entirety.

Ultimately 1 vs 1 only takes you so far a big part of this game playing for the seiges and in groups
