Follow the normal setup directions so that you've got a folder with VGExtreem.exe in it and run so it will download all the other files.

right click on XUScripts.dll and select "Open with"

left click on the "Browse" button.

Find VGExtreem.exe and left click on it.

While VGExtreem.exe is blue, left click on the "Open" button.

Left click in the check box for "Always use this program to open this type of file"

Hit "Ok"

one of 2 things willhappen:

1. If vanguard was running, you will get the login prompt.

2. If vanguard is not running, you will get teh "please restart when vanguard is running" message.

either way, after you take theese steps, instead of opening VGExtreem with the .exe file, double click the XUScripts.dll. This will start up VGExtreem and it will run normally in the WOW64 layer of your 64bit opperating system.

You can also "copy" the xuscripts.dll and name it RunVGE.dll or something to help you remember.

My other post goes in to way too much detail (unverified detail, but it makes sence to me) on why this works.

Practical observation backs up that theory based on the dozen or so pages of how wow64 works studied last night through this morning suggest that I'm right, but since I didn't understand even half of wha they said, I could be wrong.

If I use the .exe, it gives me the same 2 errors I've been haveing, andthen promptly crashes with the startup error.

If I use the .dll, then it works flawlessly.

I reinstalled a new version of vgextreem to test this, and it worked the first time without any errors.

I just woke up and gave it a shot. for some reasone it keeps telling me vanguard is not running. but i have it running in windowed mode.

it did get rid of the errors i was having.

now i have to figure out why it thinks vanguard is not running.

I am running vista 64

edit: im an idot. in vista you have to run things as an admin. so follow the steps in the first post up there but add that you have to right click vgextream.exe and go to properties and check "run as admin" then click apply. this way when you open the XUscripts thing it will run vgextream as admin.

now i just get a CLSID which i heard is kinda easy to fix. but i still dont know where to get the programs to do that with. i guess i will look more when i get home sunday.

The other clsid is from XUnleashed probably. Install xunleashed and it will register the other dll's that's missing. If you can get it working on vista, please let me know what you did so others can use it too.

The other dll's that it is wanting are XUnleashedGUI.dll, and XUnleashedControls.dll from the xunleashed installation. You might be able to just take those 2 dll's, place them in the VGE folder, and run regsvr32 on them.

Whenever I browse and select VGExtreme.exe it doesn't show up on the list to open XUScripts.dll with. :?:

regsvr32 ? I dont know what that is or how to do it. but i did download and install exhume and xunleashed. i have the dlls in the folder and i still get the error.

i am gonna go figure out what that regsvr32 thing is. hopefully that will solve my problems.

ok i opened the command prompt and typed "REGSVR32 C:\\Users\ZergCow\Desktop\xu\XUnleashedGUI.dll"

and the response was "regserver has stoped working."

so i dont know what i am doing wrong there but it wont do it. i tried several times and double checked everything. any help would be great here.

I'm getting a copy of vista 32bit. I'll try to install sometime this week and do some testing.

zergcow. Vista64 is a totally different ball game from XP64. With Vista64 each time you load a program or service it loads it into a different memory location every time. So vgclient.exe will never be loaded into the same memory space 2x. I believe that is why you can't find the client cause I would imagine it's looking in a specific memory location for it.

Vista32 also doesn't allow for memory manipulation or browsing I believe. That is probably why exhume won't work in vista32. I monkeyd around with it for about 30 minutes and decided thta since I dual boot xp/vista I'm just better off in xp. That and Vista totally sucks for gaming atm. I'm sure we can find a way to get exhume to work in Vista32 but if exhume is looking in specific memory locations for stuff then Vista64 would require a lot of recoding and a ton of extra processor time to serach the entire memory for a specifc line of code or whatnot.

BTW Vista64 is by far the best OS MS has made as far as security goes. You really don't even need a virus scanner as 98% of the virus will not work anyways do to the memory loading and some other neat security tricks MS employed with Vista64.

I am getting the same thing, i am running vista 64 and everything that has been suggested i have tried but i still cant get anything to work, not even exhume. it just says its loading than nothing ever happens. with Vg i just get the same errors everyone else gets. any other new suggestions? Beside dumping vista like everyone says to?

try installing the script debugger from microsoft. I dont have 64 bit vista to test. It works on 32 bit vista and vista ultimate (32 bit). I have seen people say that they got it working on vista. Dont remember where I saw their threads though.
