Ideas for the forum : Site and Program Suggestions

I have a few ideas I'de like to fire off about the forums:

I was thinking, it wouldn't really hurt to have a forum dedicated to introductions into the community. It'd be a good way to give a warm "hello" to all the new comers to the site.. It's actually commonplace on most forums.

Karma/Reputation - This is a good way for members to be rewarded for helpful posts, as opposed to members solely being judged by a postcount. Sadly these get abused alot.

Design Unified w/ the main page - The site's main page isn't the same colorset as the actual forums are.

Cookies/Login - Somewhere in the code there is a bug causing people to not be logged in at certain pages

Site navigation - It can be sort of confusing at the times.

Inactive links? - I see alot of posts on the forums where I am supposed to see links (I suppose) but they aren't there. For instance, someone will say "click here" and it won't be hyperlinked. Could this be because an earlier database transition only included raw text w/o tagging? Maybe it's just me.

These are just ideas I wanted to fire off out of boredom. Sometimes it's best to remember "If it's not broke, don't fix it", but other times a bit of innovation can lead to a stroke of excellence.
