It works as long as you hold him against the wall. If he get to far away he resets.

We were able to keep him outside the wall, but the little ones spawned and they came right through the wall. Does this happen sometimes? Otherwise it worked fine, we could have held him outside the wall indefinitly

Yeah some of the little ones come though but not all of them. Key is you have to keep him close to the wall.

Also it seems you do not have to send anyone in with the Wampa. We did this just with sending the droid in and waiting by the wall, he eventually warped to us.
