SOE becoming desperate? : Star Wars Galaxies Discussions

Well coming back to SWG I was going out to buy a fresh copy of SWG. i decided I would download the trial and update the basic of the game no xpacs. As I was logging in to start the update before going out and buying the game I noticed that SOE are pretty much giving it away. You can download the trial and then activate to a full account just by paying for one month subscription and you get SWG+Jump to Lightspeed free of charge.

Now I know this is probably not news to you all, but I just think that doing this is making SOE look a bit desperate for players :S

If you get the trial of WoW you have to pay full retail price to activate to a full account. Which is what I expected from SWG. But since blizz make over 100 mil a month.. why would they give their game out for free? They have no need for an increased fanbase.

Yeah they lost about 30% of their customers when they updated the professions so they do what they can to get some money.

no way...more then 30% more like 60%. personally i think they should take all the servers and create 3 main ones and just destroy player cities and give us sort of a fresh start.

This happens with most games, as they get older, the expansions get cheaper, and often with MMOs are included with the package. Its 2 years since JTL and almost the same for ROTW.

After activating the trial, you get all but the Mustafar expansion. Eventually you will get that too.

No doubt they have another planned. Remembering that apparently we got the latest expansion for free. Which was meant to be a GCW expansion.

There is also a pack coming out this month with all the expansions for cheaper than I paid for the original game.
