GW streaming trader information? : GW Discussion

well ive been thinking about this. i constantly go on guild wars and either need to sell something or need to buy something and i almost always encounter some one willing to fight with me about the price of an item (ones abtained from traders usually).

i was thinking, wouldnt it be neat to have a trade program which was independent of guild wars that could keep me updated on the prices from in-game vendors.

kinda like a chart that is updated constantly whenever a price changes.

not only could this be used for NPC items, if some one could some how log all the in-comming chats it might be possible to pick up keywords (such as fiery dragon sword) and the associated price on multiple server's and then create an average.

this doesnt have to just apply to guild wars, it could work for many mmorpg games (i think.. im not sure..).

but anyway, just kinda an idea. if i could figure out a way for a bot to read the in-game text then itd be a piece of cake.

You wouldnt have to read the ingame text, just send the packets to get quotes and interpret the packets that are sent back. But AFAIK no one has (publicly) provided information about the packets in GW, and I just don't have the time these days to do that kind of research =/

The vendor chart might be possible, but I can assure you logging chats would be impossible. Well, that sort of came out wrong. You might be able to log the chats, I don't know, but looking for keywords would'nt help at all. You're relying on the thought that everyone types the same. Which they don't. Also you would just get THEIR price logged. What if they were asking for too much? Or too little? And you ended up selling yours for less than it was worth.

It's more trouble than its worth. In-game merchant chart would be great, but I don't think the keyword idea would work.

Although, I have to say, I really do wish there was a program that just told you how much stuff cost. I really hate the GW trade system. It should've been more like d2.

the only way to accuratly do this is the way that the Rune Traders in Lion's Arch work. It's all supply and demand. For instance I have seen people still trying to sell Althea's Ashes for 1plat when it's only worth 100g. i mean if one person says 1000 and another says 100g well your average gets all screwy.

why are people trying to sell ashes anyways its not worth 100g at all other people cant use your quest items so 100g? lmao

uhm.. as far as i know you CAN use other people's ashes.

Yes you Can at 1st you could not you had to go out and update your quest, A patch about 2 months ago fixed that so yes now you can use it and its a 2000xp for just 100-300gp Nice buy IMOP

does it apply to althea's ashes only or were other quests effected as well?
