Ectoplasm : GW Guide Discussion

Hey guys, I wanted to know where to find globs of ectoplasm, if anyone could tell me that would be great thanks!

globs of ectoplasm drop in the UW. There are rumours of some monsters being able to drop them in FoW, but even if it is true, the chance of getting and ecto in FoW is much less than the chance of getting an ecto in UW.

You can get to both FoW and UW in the temple of ages after u have ascended. Just make sure we have favor, kneel beside the statue of baltazar, and talk to the Voice Of Grenth.

P.S. ecto is used for fissure armor- the rarest armor in the game (not to mention hardest to get)

Ecto costs about 10k as well, so it is a nice find, but if you are looking to get some for FoW armor, then you better save up because it is spendy.

I dont plan on buying ectos I plan on finding them and then selling. This is because I want to sell gold.

Like, sell gold on eBay?

Finding Ecto is not easy. First, most average players (assuming that is what you are) will not be able to solo the UW, and if you do it in groups, your chances of finding one are rare.

1st- An ecto has to drop, that is not a common drop.
2nd- It has to be assigined to you. If you are in a group, you will be lucky to even see an ecto drop, and you will have to be even more lucky to get one, 1/8 chance of it being yours.


So, unless you are really good and you can solo the UW, you are going to have a tough time getting rich of Ecto, but, I guess it is worth a try?

i go down in two man trap groups and do fairly well on my ecto drops

Ectos arent THAT rare. I go in 2 man trapping or 2 man invincimonk/SS groups and each player usually gets one ecto per run.

yea its like u said u both get like 1 per run and that is only 2 which is not a lot

i solo as invinci mesmer or go in with ss/sv necro and usually 1 or 2 drop each time... maybe ive been lucky cus that all seem to be for me

This really annoys me how people still think just going into UW with 2 people will mean they will collect lots and lots of ecto..

If you go in with an 8 man team, they drop more than a 2 man team would get.

In my opinion the best places to get ecto are from the mosters byond where most small groups can go banished dream riders and the mindblades and dead collectors drop alot more ecto than smites and bladeds. But in the time it takes to get to them i can make two trap runs and get the same amout of ecto. i have never bee on a uw run with 8 people and seen ever person get an ecto. so the fewer people the higher the chance of you getting an ecto. FoW is the same way. I went down last night to get my necros armor and got no shards but 3 people in my group got 2-3 shards each. all in all I get more ectos and shards in small groups than i do in full groups. but yes full groups see more ectos drop.

1 person has say 6% chance of an ecto..

2 People = 12% chance of an ecto dropping, 50% its yours

3 = 18%, 33%

4 = 24%, 25%

upto

8 = 48% of an ecto dropping/more than 1, 12.5% its yours

The price of etco is steady atm, because of the PvE tombs for the green weapons, cause its classed as the UW you get ecto in there, but the best way is to 2 man farm the UW, but as most people dont get past the first room of the smiters, you dont see many ecto in this area, so you have to perfect the build.
