Yes I agree with trexya. I've done both and the only way to make trapping fun is to be the puller else it can be very boring.
My girlfriend acts as necro to my 55HP monk and we have much more fun. However it is quite expensive to set up (4 super monk runes) and took us quite a few attempts at 1k each before we got it down.
Once you have mastered it tho it goes very quickly - we did a run last night and got 3 ectos and 1 sapphire.

I do Both types of runs... i do both 55 monk and ss/sv but whne it comes to trapping I always pull. otherwise i would be bored. btw feanixxx that sounds like it was a nice run. I went last night to help a guildie get her spider and after we did that i wnet and 55'ed the smites. 2 ectos dropped from bladeds but none for me. I can do a full run on my 55 in about 30 minutes including clearing the graspings out of forgotten vale. I also kil all the bladeds as they seem to drop more ectos than smites these days. A trapping run takes probably 1-1.5 hours.

I did both run, I am a 55hp monk and then become a trapper cause i was boring of the 55hp. Then I restart the 55hp monk cause its quite fast. If u know the patern its easy. I can do spider cap, some hard quest, powerleveling. Take me like 1.30 hour to finish my run. (smites + both cap run+quest)
Advantages for 55hp--- FAST-FUN-FAST MONEY MAKER
Advantages for trapper---Hum... Maybe you can explore the whole UW by killing one per one each group. And then, trap and aggro one other, and than, spirit and trap and aggro (doing this pattern for 1hour and you are bored)...

You can duo just as far as you can trap...
I know a couple of 55s and SS/SVs that can duo all the way to the Chaos Planes, not sure about making it to the spawning pools though
