The 2 things that make the map a bit unusable currently are the font color of text on the map and the viewing radius (how far away you can see mobs). The font color should be easy enough to change but is the mob radius a matter of what EQ2 feeds to you or is it just a program config?

mob radius is set by the server, there is no way to override it. It is set beyond the visiable distance. It is not like eq1 where everything in the zone was prefetched. It uses the standard "bubble" approach.

as far as font color, get a different "skin" from the downloads. Get one with a black background and it is much easier to read.

Thanks, but I use it with a transperent background and have the map large enough to fill about half my screen so a collored background would be unplayable. Any way to make it a config variable instead of hard coded? I tried to modify the code but it gets over writen any time I update.
Specifically I am refering to the color of the mob names. Thanks.

I'll see what I can do, but you will probably have to remind me if it doesnt get added in the next patch.

It's really an awesome script which remembers me of good old ShowEQ (SINS, MySEQ...).
Wishlist:
* Separate Spawn List Window
* Spawn Alert
* Spawn Filter

Ah one other thing... the con colours are a little bit wrong... my testing char is now 30+ and a lot of grey spawns are showed as blue and green...

hehe.. actually it is using the DAOC con colors. If somebody can tell me at what level they are and what level things are grey/blue, etc I can adjust it.

<= (level - 5) : grey
level - 4, level - 3 : green
level -2, level - 1 : blue
= level : white
level +1: yellow
level +2: orange
>= level +3: red
I think thats right.

For my test char (LVL 32) it is:
LVL 26 (-6) GREY
---------------------------
LVL 27 (-5) GREEN
LVL 28 (-4) GREEN
LVL 29 (-3) GREEN
---------------------------
LVL 30 (-2) BLUE
LVL 31 (-1) BLUE
---------------------------
LVL 32 (+/-0) WHITE
---------------------------
LVL 33 (+1) YELLOW
LVL 34 (+2) YELLOW
LVL 35 (+3) YELLOW
---------------------------
LVL 36 (+4) ORANGE
LVL 37 (+5) ORANGE
---------------------------
LVL 38 (+6) RED
So it is a little bit more complex then eqguru was thinking.

that is very helpful. If I can get a few more from different levels, I can map it out.
