Ok, so after the recent poll on if/why horde win more AV, I decided i would put a stop to this rubbishy "the bases are even" nonsense.
Yes, my first 60 was alliance, and I have never won AV on it (played many hours of it) because of the base shape. Yes, once we pushed horde all the way back to their base, into their base, only to loose the struggle once we were half way there, because of the base shape.
Ok, now to the comparative differences between the bases. Refer to the attached .jpg
If you open the picture, the above picture is of the Ally base, and the lower picture is of the Horde base. I have drawn in the path that is needed to be taken to get into the base on both maps. Pictures are both birdseye view. The pictures ARE TO SCALE! The alliance general building doesnt look as big because it is in the mountainside dont forget. The pictures are ROTATED however, the alliance one is exactly how you would see it on the minimap, horde one has been turned 90 degrees CW so that you can see them next to each other.
First. Look at the bases, you can see that they are replicas to an extent. The alliance layout after the bridge, is shrunk down and rotated, and pasted in the horde base. This does not however, eleminate the HUGE KINK in the path between the replica of the alliance base (except with horde buildings) and the front wall of the horde base. You can see in the horde base there are two main buildings, that marked B (on its side) and the one which is just to the right of the 4 (also on its side). After the building to the right of the 4, the path winds to the front of the base. THERE IS NO WINDY PATH LIKE THIS ON THE ALLIANCE BASE. Instead there is a bridge, which is straight, wide open, and allows easy access....
PLEASE, look at these maps, if you think its easier to get to the horde general, visit your local optometrist, or lay off the shrooms!
Second. Inclination. The alliance base has no inclines, except leading up to the northern tower and graveyard, there is no uphill which must be traversed. In the horde base however, it is ALL uphill. There is steady uphill untill the building to the right of the 4, and then after that a very steep incline. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ALLIANCE TO SUCCESSFULLY ATTACK HERE!
I hope what I have attempted to present is significant evidence that the horde base is far tactically better than the alliance one. I hope just looking at the length of the green lines on the map can show you the distance to the horde general, along the path that must be taken, is far longer than the alliance one.

Sounds like a very logical argument. I have to agree that the Horde have a much easier time getting to the General than the alliance do.

Yes, in my other arguement about Horde wins most BGs i was talking WSG, but his however is untrue,
Well, Anyways on Kel'Thuzad this is untrue, Kel'Thuzad had won about 9/10 AVs one night, now i know they don't play AV right because: all they do is by-pass each other in the middle where the war should start, so both factions head straight for the other factions general, so this can't be true if alliance wins so much because it is easier for them to get to their general, i am still unsure about why Horde pwns Alliance

The issue is that when gaureded by players the fight is alot harder in the situation. I know my new server fights AV like this. I was used to my old server so I managed to help slow horde down by keeping one base long enough to give our forces an upper hand, but we lost because in the general fight we had 2 low-level armored tanks and 2 healers (paladins) so they were able to take the win

howaboutthisone (!empty($user->lang['WROTE'])) ? $user->lang['WROTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'WROTE'))): Yes, in my other arguement about Horde wins most BGs i was talking WSG, but his however is untrue, Well, Anyways on Kel'Thuzad this is untrue, Kel'Thuzad had won about 9/10 AVs one night, now i know they don't play AV right because: all they do is by-pass each other in the middle where the war should start, so both factions head straight for the other factions general, so this can't be true if alliance wins so much because it is easier for them to get to their general, i am still unsure about why Horde pwns Alliance
wow, yay someone else on kel'thuzad /clap
anywho, i think this rushing game we play is !@#$%^&*.... some people even /wave at the horde as they pass each other... i usually form the raid group for AV when im there cause i have auto invite mods... but... i am usually nowhere near the raid, they rush, i like to kill horde...
there are other things...to summon their ice lord... they go to a spot way out in the FoS nowhere near where anyone would usually run (from alliance) to summon ivus, its right next to the damn road.... any passing horde can just move 10 from their path and stop us from getting ivus...
there are no choke points to hold the horde in their base stopping them from moving forward... whereas the horde can stop us at stonehearth (and usually do)
and the location of the wing commanders is a bit screwy too... horde can get theirs back saftly much easier....
us alliance also have to run though more npc's and fences to get into their base... wheras horde can walk around most of our npc's and dont have 1 gated area to go thru....
i gotta go... ill think of more later i know it....

Thanks for ur feedback guys.
On my server, we dont do this silly rush business, although honestly, it kinda sounds better. I mean no one uses AV for honour, so why not just get your marks and go home?
