So we all know that I love PvP. Not because I’m good at it - Gord no, I can’t even support people, let alone harm people. And not because I even know what I’m doing. If I’m lucky and having a REALLY good night, I’ve actually turned to face the people that are attacking us. On a bad night, I don’t even see them coming. On a REALLY bad night, I don’t realize I’m dead and spend a half hour trying to figure out how I teleported and where all the monsters went.
Tathas, Kaigon and I have been burning through the ranks. We’re all in our mid-20s now (they’ve actually got a few characters well above that, but they also have a couple "special" characters they break out Saturday nights just to keep pace with me). It’s an exciting time, because we’ve begun going into contested areas. And, despite me being part of their we, we manage to do pretty well - I’ve actually got something like six kills! Don’t ask me how; I think there were all gnomes, and I sat on them.
But in our journeys, we’ve now come to Splintertree Post. We knew going in it was going to be craziness, that we’d likely die many, many times. But hey, that’s what grouping with me is all about, right? Of course right!
Surprisingly, though, we made it to Splintertree with very little trouble. We got our flight path and even picked up the quests there and were on about our business in short time, without even a single death. Well, at least not one due to PvP. Ask Kaigon sometime about how well I do with ledges. I don’t know what it is - I’m sure it’s because I can’t seem to figure out how to pull my camera back or something, but every time I try and get near the edge of a cliff, I don’t "get near it" so much as "plummet wildly off of it." It’s funny the first fifty or so times, but it gets pretty tiresome. Especially if you’re Tathas and Kaigon and waiting for me all the time…
Anyway, so we spend the night running errands, killing things, picking plants - you know, questing. After a loooong night, we finally decide to call it quits and hit Splintertree to turn in our quests. No sooner do we jump off the windrider guys than we’re ganked by two epic’d 60 Hunters.
Yeah, okay, big deal. We’re playing on a PvP server, right? Tell me part of this story that’s not predictable!
Here’s the thing: these guys are obviously into asshat-dom for the long haul. They’re killing the NPCs, including the NPC we’re supposed to turn in our quests to. So, yeah, okay, no luck for us, we’re not getting our quests done. But Kaigon decides he’ll sign on his level 56 warrior and run out here, just to see if he can get a couple guys along to clear the town.
Turns out he doesn’t even need that. No sooner does he leave than another level 60 hunter (this one a Horde, yaay!) shows up.
And kills both of them.
I’m impressed. I don’t know if he had super epic gear or what, but he did a damn fine job of running and gunning, and killed both of those guys. I guess even if they were perfectly matched - or even if he had them outgunned - it’s still an impressive feat. Right?
No, just turns out that they REALLY suck.
Here’s the thing: Kaigon shows up with his 56 Warrior a bit later after they’ve had a chance to rez (and kill me again). And he proceeds to kill them! TWICE!!!!
Now I’ll be the first to admit that I’m an idiot, know nothing about this game, blah blah. But if you’re sporting Epic gear and have the other guy out-leveled AND out-numbered, how bad do you have to suck to still lose? So hey, hats off to Brushan and Xmikejones for sucking the most! Feel free to have a good laugh at their expense, I’m sure they won’t mind.
Obviously, the credit lies with Kaigon being that awesome. Which still doesn’t explain why he hasn’t power-leveled me to 60 yet, does it?
