Hi,

I've played the beta for some time and are planning to buy the Retail version.
I played Human Warrior and Hunter before. Didn't really appriciate any of them. Could anyone help me?
I am going to play Human on a RPG server. Just need help with deciding class, and then a Guide to that class.

Sincerely,
Thule

Lol. Why dont you just try and play various classes and races, and see what you like to do. You have to know what type of gameplay suits you best befor someone can suggest to you what class you should play. And really, race is just about what you want to look like and what benefits the class the best. As for myself, i have a lvl 50 paladin, a lvl 31 mage, a lvl 30 hunter, a lvl 50 mage, a lvl 50 rogue. Each class gives you a whole new way of playing the game. For instance, with mages, you can do massive area of effect damage and kill many mobs each pull but then have long downtimes waiting on mana. Paladins however, when fighjting 1on1 with a mob, never run out of hp or mana, and never have downtime. They just keep going and going and going. But, they are pretty boring, and have low dps so they level slow... And did i mention boring? lol. Then you have rogues who can sneak and backstab and use poisons and stuff. So, just figure out what you want to play cause noone can tell you what one you would like to play best. Once you have that, then we can help with guides =D

with humans i find that best classes are mage and pally (leave the warrior work to the all mighty dwarfs :P) but i just think that those classes work best with the humans.

Personally i play pvp as a shammy

Well if you are playing solo, no pvp or 1on1 pvp all classes are good, but thats what i think of the following:

Rogues: what i noticed is that, if you want to be sneaky and easy HK's .. become a rogue, you can camp at good contested quest locations and ahhhh
->Weak armor, but can do good starting damage - good 1vs1 - sneaks - if you get skilled on how to play, you can beat warriors or any race without much effort (ofcourse your cooldown on things is a killer sometimes)

Dont be a lock (No locks are good - i got so many in my friends list - they help me summon :) ) but they are the weakest atm, well for me i think
->Summoner's ... also free Healthstones and sexy minion

Shamman are very good, :)
They do have a bad side, in group pvp raids, they are totem droppers
->powerful if you know how to play, excellent in 1on1, use totems, secondary healers, also can rez people and themselves

Warriors - best armor - can stand and keep hittin and hittin ,, and hittin .. and than i earth shock for the last time and than quickly type /spit
->TANKS , can wear best armor (Plate /cry)

Priests - Good healers, primary job heal, secondarly ummm heal more,
Most passive players.... just have to stand back and stare and party hitpoints
-> Healers

Druids - never played one, but they are overall good match for me atleast, (i.e. only if they know how to play)

Paladins - never played one, but their shield is annoying, oh wait another annoying thing is their ability to heal completely using all mana yes even if have like 20 mana

Mage - What can i say , slowfall, portals, free food , free water, i always carry one is my grp, AOE AOE AOE, (area of effect spells that is)

Damn have to go to class, if you need some more questions answered , msg me or somethin :)

sigh...please ignore the above poster... While gear DOES have to do with warriors, if you can't hold aggro, you're not tanking. Tanking isn't just:
Charge
Taunt
Beat on it
taunt
mages/rogue DPS its dead...

NOOOOO!! If your tanking, and the mob runs to the priest...you have to know what to do..well, i do this:

Berserk
Intercept
Defensive
taunt
Sunder armor
sunder armor
sheild bash
shield block
revenge
taunt
sunder
sunder
Shield slam
---Death of enemy or me---

seriously, if your primary healer goes down, your probably screwed.
and if im not far enough to intercept i use challenging shout. mainly this is a tank/warrior's priorities.

Knowledge of what to do when>Gear>dps

yeah, warrior's AREN'T DPS machines UNLESS they are specced to do so.. and either way...a tank with a 2-h...eww... trust me...

since you obviusly don't know much about paladins and did not give a really good description i will make a short one below based on my experience.

Paladin - Can be a big damage dealer, can also be a good healer, not as good as a priest, but ocassionaly i have out healed priests, it really depends on where you place your talents. He can buff / debuff , cure most deseases and magic, he has shield, blessing of protection, lay on hands which can take him from 1 health to full instantly, he has blessing of freedom that will free him instantly when on the run and trapped. Most of the time you will play damage dealer and healer, as you will find that priests often run out of mana, and this is where you save your party from being wiped. Not to mention that with good 2 handed weapon you can do major damage, if talents are chosen correctly. The main problem with a paladin is he has no range attack, and most guides advise you to take holy shock to overcome this problem. DO NOT TAKE HOLY SHOCK ULESS YOU WANT TO SOLY BE A HEALER!!! You can take engineering that will give you some range, you also get a quest at level 47 that will give you a trinket that has boomerang ability ( also range ) and hammer of wrath is excellent for runners ... in truth, the paladin if you know how to play, does not have a range attack problem. Giving up consecration, blessing of kings ( which adds 10% to almost all stats ) not to mention 5% crit , and 3% hit , seal of command etc .. for holy shock is just stupidity.

I have played hunter, rogue, mage, druid and paladin. All of them i really enjoyed alot, but i like being able to heal myself and not have to carry loads of potions ( extra space in your bags is allways a plus ) and being able to ressurect, and i love being able to do mega damage when needed.

In my opinion, the paladin has the best of both worlds, and with upcoming 1.9.0 patch he will truely be unstoppable, well, alot harder to kill anyway.

Priest. Hardest to level and, if played right, almost unbeatable. I prefer NE Priest solely based on Shadowmeld.

I'm strict PVP, so the Shadowmeld is great when I park my Shadowspec Priest outside of UC and shadowmeld while waiting for suckers to run out towards Brill.

Booyah.

Everyone said that priest are easy to kill but if you play a priest right they are almost unbeatable. Everyone said that hunter are the best and mage suck but have you ever seen a video with a hunter that can kill in 3 instance hit? Mage are very powerful if you build them right. I been in pvp with a 56 mage and i was a 60 hunter and the dude took me out in 3 hits before i can even send my pet out. But the best idea to choose a class is to try them all out first.

Trieupm, you realise this post is from the 5th of june of last year.... Lol.

Priests are great if you like healing but retaining dmg ability
Locks/Rogues are good if you want hit and run
Pallies are good for being immune/rocking
Warriors are good for thrashing everything like a meatgrinder
Shamans are good for off tanking with a variaty of backups
Mages are great at pure dmg... dmg... and crazy mages can tank (Not really, unless it's against weak dmg/low lvl mobs)
Hunters are a mix, you can heal if u let your pet tank, solo easily, ranged dps, melee, trap, hit and run, and pull off insane running dps called kiting.

~Shrugs~ Personal playstyle.
