Nethaera from Blizzard shares an opinion on both raids and pugs. What do you prefer?
I've found that it's good to do a both. Yes, it's good to run with the same people consistently in that it allows you all to get to know what to expect from each other and it can make things easier. Raids tend to need much more coordination than pugs can normally pull off so there's a plus on the side of knowing those you group with. (This can apply to PvP for pugs and non-pugs as well.)
On the other end of the spectrum, I've met some really great people from pugs and it's also interesting to see how different people like to do different things. It gives you a fresh perspective, and you may just learn some new trick that you hadn't considered before. Also if you are in a guild that is looking to recruit new people, you may just run into someone that could be a perfect fit.
I try to balance my time out as much as possible between, PvP, solo-play, 5 mans (pug and non-pug) and raids. It's what keeps things fun for me.
I think that even if you dislike pugs, you may just be shorting yourself on meeting some new people and learning some new things. Even if you don't learn something knew, you have the potential to show someone else something knew and make their game experience a better one. It doesn't hurt to share the wealth of experience you may have with others. It's just good karma.
Thanks
