Blizzard the other night (6/2/07) had updated warden which makes glider not so safe as it should -

"Last night, I noticed a change in Warden that was deployed very recently. What's rather creepy is this change was probably not picked up by ISX. I'll wait for Lax to confirm, since we may have just missed a handshake and the alert didn't make it over to me.

The new code detects a side effect of Glider that is also very common to any system infected with a rootkit. Since this would return a lot of false positives, I believe it explains the pattern of disconnect/ban we have been seeing. So the good news is I don't expect there to be a wave of bans from this, as it would pick up a lot of people who have never used Glider.

However, because the change indirectly detects Glider, I'm taking Glider off-line for awhile. I've looked at it and it's easily avoided, but I don't want to open the floodgates right now and put out a quick tweak to the app.

I also want to build in a bit more structure so that I can make Glider stop itself automatically in response to something here. You'll be able to disable that, of course, if you don't want Glider pinging this server every 10 minutes or so.

Will my account be banned?
If you're not banned now, chances are you are fine. The account is likely flagged, but there is no way to for Blizzard to tell if you were gliding or you just happened to have a Sony CD with one of their awful rootkits.

Of course, being flagged is not a good thing, as the account may be spot-checked by a human more, making further gliding on the account more risky. Keep that in mind if you decide to glide the account again.

What do I do now?
You should be fine to play by hand, just reboot your computer first to make sure no traces of Glider are resident.

When will Glider be back?
I'm going to test the changes here through today (Saturday) and make sure everything looks good. Expect a 1.4.4 out tomorrow or early Monday."

Thats the basic information that they gave us about what happened, or could have happened, to some of the glider users, and some of Warden.
