Eyonix took a little time to explain the upcoming changes to healing and the innate bonus spell damage coming in patch 2.3, currently on the Player Test realms.
Healing gear is currently identified by this description, "Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to x." In patch 2.3, the item text to identify plus to healing will be modified to read, "Increases healing done by up to x and damage done by up to y for all magical spells and effects".
y = bonus spell damage approximately equal to 1/3 of the item's healing bonus.
There are a few items and enchantments where we weren't able to make this change, such as random-stat items and Zul'Gurub enchantments. In any case, the spell damage gained in this fashion is designed to make solo/grinding easier but really won't provide competitive damage when compared to stacking spell damage equipment. enchantment, gems, etc...
