Shamans have more utility than a Paladin, they can do everything a Paladin can do, except not use plate and give blessings.

Shamans have CC and Paladins do not.

true...but those are exceptional qualities (wearing plate and useing blessings and stuff)

Yes, but a Shaman can purge buffs, lay down totems to counter for the buffs. The utility of a Shaman is far superior to that of a Paladin.
