I've had a few people ask me how enchanting works, so thought i'd better post this thread.
How to obtain enchanting stones:
From a general goods vendor, you will be able to purchase a set of Extraction Tools. You can use these on armor and weapons do effectively "disenchant" them, destroying the item and turning it into an Enchantment Stone.
Enchantment stones have levels?!
Yes, enchantment stones have levels, and this is for a good reason. When you extract an item, you will receive an enchantment stone relative to the quality / level of the item you extracted it from. For example:
If you extract a level 22 white item, you will likely get an enchantment stone 0-3 levels above that item.
If you extract a level 22 green item, you will get an enchantment stone 2-5 levels above that item.
If you extract a level 22 blue item, you will likely get a stone 4-10 levels above the item.
Okay okay, so how do I enchant? And why?
Enchanting items increases the basic stat of the item. The details are as follows:
Weapons
Dagger: +2 damage per level
Sword: +2 damage per level
Maces: +3 damage and +10 magic boost per level
Staves: +3 damage and +10 magic boost per level
Spellbooks: +3 damage and +10 magic boost per level
Orbs: +4 damage and +10 magic boost per level
Greatsword: +4 damage per level
Polearms: +4 damage per level
Bows: +4 damage per level
Armor
Cloth: Chest +3, Legs +2, Shoulder / Gloves / Shoes +1 defense per level
Leather: Chest +4, Legs +3, Shoulder / Gloves / Shoes +2 defense per level
Chain: Chest +5, Legs +4, Shoulder / Gloves / Shoes +3 defense per level
Plate: Chest +6, Legs +5, Shoulder / Gloves / Shoes +4 per level
Shields: +2% damage reduction per level.
Final but Important notes
All sounds good, right? Right, except one thing, enchanting can fail. If the enchantment fails, it will reduce the enchantment level of the item by 1 (but not reducing the item below 0 enchantment). To have as high-a-possible chance of succeeding in your enchantment, you should use an enchantment stone which is higher level than the item you're trying to enchant. As a general guideline:
* White Item = Item's Level +1-10 Levels
* Green Item = Item's Level +5-15 Levels
* Blue Item = Item's Level +15-30 Levels
* Orange Item = Item's Level +25-40 Levels
The maximum level of enchantment you can put on any item is +10. Therefore, you can actually add another 40 damage to your bow, or up to 60 defense to your plate chest!
Enchanting is well worth the cost, but can be very expensive.
