1.8 Million Day One Sales Estimated

The guys over at VGChartz have estmated that StarCraft 2 has sold 1.8 million units on day one which would make it the fastest selling PC title of 2010 and one of the fastest of all time. This estimate is based on sales across the Americas and Europe which would include boxed copy retail sales and Battle.Net download sales.

VBChartz point out that this estimate would not include Korea where the game is mainly sold on time cards and also comes with World of Warcraft subscriptions. They estimate that Korea could account for a further 3-4 million. They also estimate that 31% of the 1.8 million sold in the US and Eruope were sold through Battle.Net and the remainder from boxed copies.  While crunching their numbers they think that 57% of sales are likely to have come from the US and the remainder from Europe.

These fuigures are not Blizzard’s official figures which they are yet to reveal. NBo doubt Blizzard will be shouting from the rooftops some time next week with the actual figures.
