With the test server going live with 2.0 soon, we all know that the hidden collector in each one of us will be activated when 2.0 comes out with a multitude of pets. They are unbelievably cute and I’ve been searching for information from the Korean version of the game in order to plan my acquisitions and test out pets. The following video appears to be an amalgamation of many of the videos found separately on the Korean Powerbook. I was surprised that even a Rotan was represented and Tutty appeared to be back from the dead and eating well. Luckily, pets don’t die, so your new Tutty pet won’t end up roasted and on a spit. Apparently, pets will also spread their wings and glide with you as shown in the image above.
Pet Function and Cost
According to the initial 2.0 patch notes (see here), the pets can have the following functionality:

The pack mules are used as storage pets.

As can be expected, the storage pets are the most expensive and decorative pets tend to be less expensive. There are also a lot of pets shown in the video that are not included in the prices below.

A few of the pets are defined as “productive”, which is a somewhat bizarre concept. If you feed them certain materials, then they will output better items. This gives the concept of “world drop” new meaning. My pets certainly don’t return better items when I feed them. More information on particular items eaten by pets is available on the
Korean Powerbook.

Pet Emotions and Accessories
At least one pet-related quest has been added in order to obtain a skill book for the pet emotion of praise. It is unclear whether or not other books for the expression of pet emotions exist. The pet appears to already come with the ability to express unhappiness when the pet does not want to eat a particular item.

Accessories also exist for the pet, although it’s unclear at this point how they work.

Pet Management
Pets are obtained as eggs from NPCs in the capital city of each race. You can see the preview the general appearance of a pet through pressing <ctrl-mouse click>. Note that in Aion 2.0 pets may not change their colour.
- Asmodian Location
- Elyos Location
Through pet windows you can change your pet’s name and feed it. You can even hot key the pet through extra spots for pet hot keys that will exist in Aion 2.0. Of course, the most important part of pet management is that while you are only allowed to have one pet out at once, you can have a variety of owned pets. These will be available for summoning through the Pet List (Start Menu -> Pet List) as well as dismissal. That’s what will make the collector in all of us particularly happy.

Cheers, and may your pet bring you wealth through dropping items!
