If there is a guide describing how to approach leveling in the Barrens for horde, point it out. A guide with a list of what quests to do and when in order to maximize the amount of xp you get in a short period of time. I've seen guides doing this for newbie areas, but none past that. Since the Barrens has such a wide variety of quests, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do. It is kinda surprising i cant just google it and find one or at least find one here. I know many people in the horde would kill for a guide like this.

Well, if you want a pure leveling guide (as in grinding), i have just the thing for you :

Although it is my opinion that grinding will level you faster than anything, I also know how insanely boring it can be (unless that’s your thing, of course). So I’ve thrown in a few quests that don’t take much time, are fun to do, and net decent XP. I’ve also mentioned the “kill x monster” quests, because you’re going to be killing things anyways, why not get extra xp for it.

Anyways, down to business.

Part 1: Getting to level 10

Obviously for this guide to be of any use, you have to at least be level 10. Now, I’ve done this a few times, and if you are patient, I would actually recommend waiting until 11 or 12 before starting, but that’s just me. Basically, putter around in your newbie area doing quests, killing monsters, getting your professions, and whatever else you want to do. Enjoy the game! You’ll be doing some boring stuff later, so make sure you put in a lot of fun now.

Once you are at least level 10, head to the crossroads. If you are a tauren, there is a quest in Thunderbluff given by Kirge Sternhorn that tells you to head to the crossroads and speak with Thork. Since you are headed there anyways, make sure you pick it up. Also, there is a quest called Serga Darkthorn that is given by more than one person, depending on your class, that tells you to go to the crossroads and speak with her. Again, since you are going there anyways, make sure you pick it up. If you are an orc/troll, the Conscript of the Horde quest given in Razor Hill by Takrin Pathseeker is the one you want.

So you’re in the crossroads, you’re around level 10. Great! Let’s move on

Part 2: Levels 10-15(17)

Your targets here are going to be the Greater Plainstriders, and then the Zhevras. Start off with the plainstriders, as they are lower level, then add the Zhevras into the mix. To begin, grab the quest from Serga Darkthorn that has you loot a certain quest item off the plainstriders. Then walk west out of the crossroads, and make a semi-circle path going from west to northwest to north etc. until you get to the east entrance, killing everything you say (mostly plainstriders). Once you get to the eastern entrance, cut through the cross roads and begin again. When you get around 13-14. you can extend the loop. Instead of cutting through the crossroads, continue south and west to circle around the hills. You’ll run into packs of Fleeting Plainstriders and Zhevra runners, both of which are non-social, non-aggro, which are perfect for grinding. When you hit the southern road, turn north, but stay west of the crossroads (go around, not through). Just loop back around to the eastern road start position. Just keep repeating this loop for a while. I know it’s boring, but its so easy, you’re really close to a shop, and hardly any of the mobs are agro (you’ll run into raptors and huntresses, but you should be able to handle it with ease). You can actually continue this loop all the up to around 17, if you have the patience. If you have a botting program, this loop is great for it, as it runs right through a graveyard. As you start to get fairly high (like around 15), if you head more north and west, following the western road, you’ll see more high level mobs. The plainstriders and zhevras will scale up, so the mobs will be closer to you’re level. No point in killing mobs that barely get you xp!

Questing sidenote: You have two options here. You can either keep picking up the quests from serga darkthorn and go off and kill those mobs, then return to the loop, or you can wait till later. Truthfully, I’m not really sure which one is faster, so go with what you prefer. If you get bored, go kill something else and get the quest that goes with it. If not, wait till later (like level 20) when you can bang out like 8 quests rapid fire and get a nice XP boost.

Part 3: hitting 20 (or a little more)

Once you’ve completed part 2, and are around 16-18 (18 is better), your next goal is to hit level 20. First, you’ll want to head north, almost to ashenvale. You’ll know you’re getting close when you see those goofy looking pine trees. When you get to the tree line head west, and start killing. When you notice the mobs start dropping in level again, turn around and start killing again. You’ll want to make a sort of oval shape in the area, staying between the two large mountains. This area will easily take you to 20 fairly quickly, and can even take you to 21 or 22, depending on your patience. Also, like the other area, this is a decent area for anyone with a botting program, but it doesn’t have the convenience of a nearby graveyard. Still, the mobs are packed close, so the XP output is pretty high. Also, there is a vendor at the far northwest corner, meaning you don’t even have to return to town to sell all of your loot. Amazing!

Part 4: knocking out those quests

Head back to the cross roads and pick up all of the “kill x” quests. If you haven’t done the Serga Darkthorn chain yet, do those now. You’ll breeze through em like nobody’s business. Make sure you also get Consumed by Hatred from Mankrik. Other possible options, if you like questing, are the Kolkar Leaders chain, Raptor Thieves, and Disrupt the Attacks. These chains should give you a nice change of pace, and take you to around level 24. If you haven’t quite gotten there, head back up to the place in part 3, or you can go over to the place where the Razormanes are (northwest of crossroads) and grind them. Just depends on your preference, but the razormanes are humanoid and likely have better drops.

Part 5: The home stretch

We’ve almost made it! You’ll want to head south from the crossroads and travel to Camp Taurajo. Don’t do the quests yet, just kill mobs. You’ll want to start off with those giant thunder lizards. The gizzards they drop sell for decent money. Like most of the mobs in this area, as you wander further away the levels scale up. You can take on these thunder lizards all the way up to 28. Yes it’s boring, but grinding is. There is a special lightning lizard, called Onwatanka. He gives a great xp boost, and good drops. Just keep grinding the mobs in this area until you hit thirty. There are quests that you can do, like Tribes at War, which take you into the razormanes in this area. They are quick to kill, but the social aspect may lead to trouble. Although if you’re high enough level, this shouldn’t be a problem. For that last little bit of xp (if you need it), do a few more of the quests in Camp T, or just keep killing mobs. By now, you should be pretty close, and those last few xp points should come easily.

Anyways, hope that helps out. You do miss out on a lot of the story (as is true for anytime that you grind), but it’s faster. Once you hit 30, you can go to Warsong Gulch and engage in some nice PvP action for a bit of change of pace.

And remember: Always have fun!

Of course, i'm sure there is a much better guide out there, this was just something that I put together myself. Sorry that there isn't much information in regards to quests...I didnt do too many of em, except the ones listed. I'm sure there are plenty of other people here who can help you better than me with that info.

Yah ur right it's more of a grinding guide. Im more talking about the type that lists quests to go do and which ones you can complete en-route. Much like this one. http://worldofwarcraft.gameamp.com/guide/viewGuides/106.php

I found this guide the most helpful when in came to the newbie lands. A guide like that for the barrens would kick all sorts of @$$.
