i would assume mage or warlock with firey enchant on main hand. the instant cast spells and imp pet of the lock would make it faster than a melee class... now that i think about it though, warriors can charge at level2 so charging after every fight would be very fast and of course warriors can live a long time at low lvl... just give em some bread or 5silver for bread in town.
id say undead have the best starting area for quick leveling and questing. all the quests are close together and not far from town. everything about starting in that area seems quicker than others.
verdict = undead warrior or warlock with firey main hand. without firey, shaman or mage would probably take the cake.

The reason I'm collecting info, is to put together a guide to get to 10 ASAP, with any class/race
1-10 you can rush thru if you have perfect quest stacking, which will help people PL there toons, since getting to 10 is a hard thing to do by just grinding

Also, I was going to start tests on a new server, or a server without cheats so to speak, so no firey or anything

Getting to 10 in 1 hours is an impossiblity even with 100% help from friends.
1-10 is hard because
You don't have many skills
You can't just grind it out and get a good time
Memorization of Quests is a good thing to have, and writeing a guide is a good thing as well.

I would look forward to this guide very much. I find quickest is a warrior. Make sure to get all quests you can so you can complete many at a time. Quests that have you kill x amount of y or collect x amount of item y are the best quests but at these low levels, make sure to do everything.
Undead starting place or Orc/Troll is my favorite. The nightelf and tauren ones seem really spread out to me.

In the orc/troll starting place, whatever your class is, you should leave valley of trials at lvl 5, finish all quests in it and get all quests in sen'jin village, then go to Razor Hill. If you are not lvl 6 yet, grind some mobs till you are. Then you can get new spells when you get there. complete/accept all quests and head out to get the gnomish tools in the ships, while you are there you should also collect intact makrura eyes and crawler mucus. swim towards echo isles and do all quests there. This should get you to around 10.
This is how I do the starting area, but I don't remember what level I got to

One thing first: You need 58200 EXP for level 1-10
So in fact, 1-10 in 1 hour is impossible, and i dont just say impossible like "Omg this is impossible!" no, it realy just is not possible. You would need a 58200 exp per hour rating, and this, is impossible (Even with lvl 59)
Well i tested it a few days ago.
I think warrior is the most fastest.
Because of nearly no walk time between the mobs.
Titan Panel showed me a XP/h of 11000-13000 what is freaking much.
I needed 4 hours and 57 minutes. ( I started counting when i hit the first Mob)

/ress old topic
I would think either a warrior or a paladin is the best to grind from 1-10. We have all heard of Joana, and I, was faster to grind than she was in the first 10 levels.
IMO I'm not that fast of a grinder
These two classes would be the best, because, if you kill the right mobs, have little or no downtime between the mobs.

Well Joana was doing quests. Did you do quests or grinding? Joana grinded in a way that set her up for later
