If you've ever attempted this beast you know how a single ground slam can ruin your attempt.
When your raid gets the message that a ground slam is incoming; drink a dreamless sleep potion, while sleeping you will NOT get thrown around.
You can use the cheap pots even and the cooldown will be ready by the time another ground slam is due.
Work this into your plan and have everyone positioned 20yds away from eachother at all times. You can even have places for your melee dps to stand and pop a pot.

Blizzard intends to stabilize the encounter somewhat as the fight is currently based on luck.

works but id advise against it... save the pot cooldown for a health pot.
you have to time the dreamless sleep pot exactly and his shatters bug a lot and come at random times. plus. if youre a healer, youre taken out of the fight and cant heal the tank

Vael was based on luck too and blizzard never changed it.

ill admit vael was based on luck, but the boss was only hard if you had bad luck. the way gruul was, the boss was impossible unless you had amazing luck (or an incredibly geared/organized team).
hes been nerfed though, shatter hits for between 1-3k from what ive seen, and ive heard he has less health. plus, he randomly bugs out and stops shattering/hateful striking.

it does work but like stated above, he is a joke. Out of all the times we went in (6 or so I think) we never had a problem downing him with every1 still alive. The only problem is the King with his 4 other mobs

btw another way of avoiding ground slam is to jump as he does it.
