Yeah, i notice how sometimes its faster to do the quests
than to rather grind, but sometimes i feel different about
it cause i sometimes take a long time to finish specific quests.
I mean, its nice to see "1500exp" off a quest instantly
but i sometimes think that i'd be allot faster if i just killed
specific mobs haha. But to be honest the quests are more
enjoyable sometimes just cause you're focussing on
something else rather than just killing for exp, and what
is really nice is when the Quest Items you must obtain
comes from mobs that still give some decent exp so you
take the quest as extra bonus or something.
Though ofcourse, depending on the Font Color of the
Quest in the "L"log, the more towards the RED color
makes it harder, but more rewarding, and requires
more people to finish at points unless there is a solo
way around it.
I gotta admit, ive underestimated this game, I like it
allot more than I thought, It sort of has the way of
the old Diablo 2 game, i loved that game back when
that was basicly one of the best selling RPG's out there.
Seeing as this is Blizzard, the same company, I think
they did a good job on the gameplay, but yeah to be
honest, I think that Square Enix and Blizzard could
learn a thing or two from each other. ^^
FFXI is more of a Story/End-Game thing imo,
I like the crafting system more there, the characters
too, but that probably is more a personal thing.
The WoW thing i really dont like sometimes is that
the quests are basicly all the same genre, and the
characters/inviorment looks too cartoony.
But as for the Gameplay of WoW vs FFXI I should say
that WoW > FFXI level wise / Item Find wise.
I really missed the Diablo style of obtaining items
FFXI just doesnt have it, regular mobs only drop
Meat/Feathers/Crystals and stuff like that..
WoW mobs actually at times drop Green/Blue items
off experience points mobs, which is imo more fun.
But GG to both, ill be playing both anyways ^^-

try 2 do quests... it's faster, but if you find a really nice spot to grind at, just stay there for a while. Also if you can't find the places for quests just ask on general chat. Most of the time someone will answer your questions.

Worst case scenario people will call you a noob and flame you, but that's not that bad..... actually it is but who cares. And on a new server that doesn't always work to well.

The best thing to do if it is your first account is to quest, then after that you can grind other players to 60. but grinding is boring so you shouldnt do it for your first account

Zildjian182 (!empty($user->lang['WROTE'])) ? $user->lang['WROTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'WROTE'))): Well, im fairly new to WoW, still play FFXI, and i personally find FFXI allot more "clear" when you're doing something.
Ok i think this is best to be awnsered by a person that knows both WoW and FFXI.
1: Can you Flag up (aka: Looking for Party) or something that people know you are interested in an experience points party?
2: Im Lv.29 Rogue and I get owned by a Lv.25 Bandit (or w/e) in Duskwoods, does this mean one is not capable of solo'ing mobs anymore around this level?
3: "How" do you level at all? I dont get it, FFXI is simple, just put your flag up with a search comment, wait for some person to invite you, travel to an area and go kill mobs for exp. I've solo'd my way up to Lv.29 Rogue, and now I cant find any spots to level at solo. And i dont get this "Looking for Party" thing at all in WoW, just very unclear.
Now, ive tried to find Guides on multiple websites, including TU. But only found "Horde" (lol and still didnt even know what ppl were talking about)
Couldnt find any clear leveling Guide, to learn "how" to level, and what you must do to gain exp, or what ever. I've even asked my guild 100 times, and these blind people dont even assist me.
Lol, this game is already driving me crazy.
Anyways, if anyone would be cool to awnser these questions above and possibly could give me some advice, cause im not making any progress currently lol. Being EU and playing FFXI is kinda anoying as we're on JP times basicly, and LS events start at midnight and WoW is also EU based meaning events could take place earlier, which is nice.
Please do not awnser my questions so simple as: "Go do quests" yeah, what quests, i aint done a quest between Lv.1 and Lv.29. Also, ive gotten a few links to some sort of Allakhazam websites, with info but i couldnt find any newbie guide on how to progress any further, or how specific things work, and what is worthwhile or not.
Aight, so could anyone please give me some "detailed" advise on what to do now that im a Rogue 29 trying to get Lv.60 eventually? Party? Quest? Instance? I heard stuff like that, but HOW does it work? And how did you deal with it? Sorry, im just a little frustrated when i dont understand stuff that apparently shouldnt be too hard to know, though ive tried to find info myself but eventually got tired of searching for hours.
-Thanks
1. Yes, in the lookingforgroup channel, just type "lfg <instance>" You can also add your level and class if you want, if you think that will help =P
2. At 29, you should be able to solo a 33 mob (non elite). You can solo 34 mobs, but that is hard and will require cooldowns.
3. I answered most of this in question one, but at level 30, you can go to Stranglethorn Vale for, like, 15 levels... Also, quests are a great way to level because they give you a goal while grinding and an xp reward at the end.
Well, if you read any of the in game tips at all, you would know questgivers have the large ' !' above their heads. Until 60, WoW is the least complex of any MMORPG i've ever seen, unless you can't read, this game is not hard to figure out.
You get experience two ways. By killing things and by turning in a completed quest. Doing instances is a great way to level because you kill lots and lots of enemies fairly quickly. In case you didn't know, instances are done with 5-man groups. I suggest reading some of the in game tips or the manual, it might help.
Oh, in case you didn't know: Moving is the arrow keys or WASD when the chat entry isn't up.

Yes, try the Looking for Group channel, which I have explained on question nr.3
2: Im Lv.29 Rogue and I get owned by a Lv.25 Bandit (or w/e) in Duskwoods,
does this mean one is not capable of solo'ing mobs anymore around this level?
No, it doesn't mean your not able to solo mobs around this level, but my tip would be to read a small detailed rogue guide, for example http://wow.ogaming.com/data/2773~rouge.php
3: "How" do you level at all? I dont get it, FFXI is simple, just put your flag up
with a search comment, wait for some person to invite you, travel to an area

LFG Channel aka Looking For Group. This means if you for example want to grind (which means killing alot of mobs around your level to gain xp / level) and you feel you cant do it alone, you can search for someone to join you here. For example "LF1M (looking for 1 man / 1 more) to grind with me in STV (Stranglethorn Vale). Also, in the LFG channel you'r available to look for an instance group, instance are dungeons with bosses, which drops green (better then standard) / blue (rare) / purple (epic) items, which normaly is better then the ones you use by questing / grinding items. Read more about instances on www.worldofwarcraft.com
Now my recommendation would be to grind / quest in the area "Duskwood" untill you hit 30-31, then you move on to "Stranglethorn Vale" where you do the beginner quests, which you can find at a small camp near a lake, ask in the General chat. Also you can grind the young panthers / tigers. Now when you'r 35+, come here again, and I'll tell you more Good luck <33

Well, when your a rogue soloing your not the best tank. so at your level what you want to do is stealth backstab stun and kill you should look into getting groups for instances for better gear that is probably your problem is that you don't have good enough gear to solo lvl 25 bandits. The LFG channel is simple just hit EX: /3 your class lvl and where you would like to go and its that simple hope this help =)

I have a 60 rogue and a 60 mage - both I mostly solo'd to 60.
As far as the rogue goes - you can solo up to 60 without any problem at all. Go with a sword/combat build - just don't go daggers. Most of the time you'll be in front of the mob and that's where you want your SSs to do the most dmg. You don't want to gouge and then wait for your energy to climb up for a BS. That's valuable killing time you're wasting. I definitely did most quests with the rogue then with the mage. Expect pure xp grinding to be slow.
For the mage - that's completely different. Due to the fact that you can AE you're afforded the ability, as a mage, to get the experience of completing a quest every pull. Just grab 4-6 mobs (10-14 if you have a pocket 60 pally/cleric to p-lvl you) and grind away. I was able to average 1 level every 45 mins or so around 30-45. Above that it took about two hours to get one level.
For what it's worth - I find the mage to be much more fun then the rogue. I find myself bringing out the rogue to farm bosses and do assassination runs mainly now.... but to each their own.
