Written/found by Spitt. Please give me credit if you post this elsewhere.In Shimmering Sands, there is a quest which you will receive an item called
Inmate’s Guise. This quest item can be gained by both Guardians and Defiants. As long as you do not complete the final quest Foiled Plans, you can use this item as long as you like.
It can be used anywhere, for 30 mins. The only problem with it, is that you can’t mount up with it, however for a semi-perma guise you can use anywhere, it’s a small trade-off. You can cast with it, attack mobs, grab herbs, take damage. You can also go through porticulos’ and soul recall, without dropping the guise. Death however will change you back.
The item I was offered to turn in the quest item, was equivalent in stats to the item I already had, with small trade-offs in stats. I do not know if, because it’s a story quest, if I am stopping a chain quest from being able to complete. However I thought the guise was worth any repercussions.

Note: This does not take away your ability to be seen by the other faction. They will still know you to be the enemy.
